It seems harder to move from the modern world to the Amish world than from a city to the beach, but Helene seems to enjoy any place her husband is. Gretchen seems to be enjoying her Amish visit more than she expected.

City to beach was a culture shock for me. Thank you so much. Gretchen
Comment from Dolly'sPoems
I suppose it doesn't matter where in the world we live as long as we are with someone who we love and that they also love us. I am not sure I would survive this kind of life though, but I reckon time would slow down as we are more aware of time in a fast paced world. I think this break is doing you and Rachelle a lot of good, ha ha ha, another fine chapter, love Dolly x x x

This keeps getting better and better with each chapter. Rachelle and Gretchen have a journey ahead of them where they will discover things that never knew about life or themselves. I can't wait to see what happens in the next chapter. Great writing.

Thank you so much. I'm curious about where this is going as well. Gretchen

Gretchen, you have made this whole story - the conversations, etc, seem so real, sometimes I think you are actually talking to people you know.
I love yours and Rachelle's back and forthing.
I'm sure you read Lee's response to Rachelle's interview for the Christmas book. He is truly a mess, but funny. I do wonder why Rachelle didn't interview the guys, too, unless it would have made it too long.
But, back to this, your's and Helene's stories of why you each chose to live where you do, was very touching. And the whole thing enjoyable!

This is really good. If I'd never known anything else I'm sure it wouldn't be bad. It is that different than the we lived when I was very little, but knowing other people had more conveniences tha I had would make it hard.

Thank you, Beth. It would be a difficult situation for sure. I appreciate the nice review. Gretchen

I think that way of life is so attractive. It is unusual to be invited to interact with an Amish family, at least in New York were my brother has many Amish neighbors. Paul had some wonderful contacts but being invited into a home is different. Esther

Thank you so much for the edits and also for the fine review. I could probably live like that for a few days, but I wouldn't last much longer than that. Lol. Gretchen

We only live about twenty kms from the coast, so we don't experience the harshness of the cold changes in winter or cool weather, but some people move there and think it's summer all the time, it's better experiencing the option of going there or not, (most people in Australia live near the coast, well done, blessings Roy

It can be gorgeous one day, then absolutely horrible. You never know until you wake up. Thank you for this. Gretchen
Comment from Rachelle Allen
Aha!!! A soft and gooey side to the tough-as-nails Southern Belle at last!! You did a nice job making inroads with your relationship with Helene as well as with us, your readers. Learning that you (a) have a family (b) what your life is like with them and (c) that you're lonely for them was wonderful You and Helene are kind of arms-length people, so it was nice to feel you letting us in and to see that Helene was also letting YOU in, albeit just a smidge.
I love that you refer to the Yoder girls and Hannah as my sorority sisters. Hahahaha. That was perfect. Could we BE on more opposite ends of the Socializing scale??! You depict it perfectly here, and it makes for a very illuminating chapter. Your forte is being a noticer; mine is teaching. But we come together nicely when it's one-on-one. I love the way this is shaping up. Great work. xoxo

I just see your character as someone who thrives with people. You're like a friendly pooch. Everyone is a best friend you've never met before. I'm more like a Doberman. Watching and waiting. I can either be your best friend or your worst nightmare. Lol. I'm glad you liked this one. I was so blown away by the chapter you posted I felt like this was underwhelming. I feel better now. Gretchen

I sure am glad I'm on the "friend" side of that equation. But, just for the record, I, too, can a vicious side. My description of that is similar to yours: I'm very, very nice until you say or do something to deliberately make me angry. If you choose to step into the ring with me, I will make it the most memorable day of your life.
Comment from Wendy G
I like that you are reflecting on life, love, people who are different from yourself (and places likewise) and learning much through these experiences. What is important and precious. You are not dictating but causing the reader to reflect with you. The use of humour is excellent. Well done.

Thank you, Wendy. I'll be honest, I was intimidated by Rachelles chapter because it was phenomenal. I felt mine was under whelming. So, thank you for this. Gretchen

Yours was just as worthy. Both wonderful in different ways.

Very nicely written.
A swimsuit, huh? Sounds like cheatin' to me.

I think I would take a dead phone knowing that the plea was received and answered.
Best wishes.
