So it is all over. Now the mother would get her freedom and the boys will have to face the law... i am glad both were in it ,not just Dewy . They would be there for each other...

Sometimes you get away with murder. We'll have to see how the boys fare. Thanks so very much for the great review and the six. Gretchen

Very well written.
It's not the scene I imagined. I figured Matthew to put up a fight.
Good thing no one will come looking for him.
Best wishes.

Guess Matthew thought his past actions against the boys would be enough to stop this. He was wrong. Besides, he never went after anyone who could honestly fight back. It was always women and children. He was shocked his boys didn't back down. Thank you for this. Gretchen

Wow! That was brutal. It was pretty apparent he was going to end up dead. The mother left know he wouldn't be there when she returned. You don't say you're ending the story here so I wonder if anyone would ever come looking for him. This if raw and well written.

That slimeball deserved everything he got from the two boys. He crossed the line when he hurt the baby, and destroyed the last vestage of humanity inside him, if there ever was any. That Dewey did eventually allow it to get to him, to shed that tear, shows he is still the good person inside that he has always been. Huck has to deal with his calmness, he has to get over the hate and start to show some remorse like Dewey, before he can begin to forgive himself. Although I don't think he has done anything wrong, he just removed a deadly virus.
I don't know how their mother will take it, even without them saying anything, I think she will know.
This has been an incredible story, Gretchen, and you wrote it perfectly. It was sad, but only because of what slimball did to so many people. He deserved the ending he got. Well done, my friend, amazing writing! :)) Sandra xxx

Thank you, Sandra. This was an emotionally draining story, to be sure. You best believe, I'm writing something more lighthearted next. Lol. I really want to thank you for your continued support, thoughts and suggestions throughout. And not just on this story. I really appreciate it. Thanks for the extra star as well. Gretchen

Yes, that man reaped what he sowed. I knew this was coming, and you executed it perfectly, Gretchen.

Okay, I know this isn't a comedy, but you had me busting at the seams over this little line.

"No. Coyotes do what coyotes do. It's as simple as that. He made us coyotes, Dewey. He may not have known he was (dong) it, but this was still his doing."

Not poking fun by any means.
God bless,
Steve

I think Huck put it in words that Dewey would understand. Animals do what they do to survive. Their dad made them animals. I'm glad you liked the chapter and I'm never offended when someone tells me what they think or how a line touched them. Glad you are still enjoying this story . Gretchen

Such a sad chapter, because they will still feel guilt that they did it, even though it had to be done. Dewey still has a soul. Their father's ongoing cruelty and the molestation of Miss Lynn's daughter brought it to this final climax, and still the monster showed only mockery not remorse. He got the punishment he deserved but at the same time those boys will have an emotional scar to add to what they already have. Your book is powerfully written, but not an easy read. Well done.

This is a perfect ending for their father's reign of terror and misery. Some people are too wicked to let them live and when he assaulted that little girl, he became not just a dangerous man but a monster who would have eventually killed Dewey and Huck. He would not have been stopped by conventional methods.

This was intense and perfect. There's remorse that it got to that point, but not for the deed, itself. A fine line of distinction, but a crucial one. They didn't rejoice, but rather, accepted that it has changed them not for the better, but for the necessary. Sometimes we have to do ugly things in life and then just accept we'll live with it.

Remember Charlotte's web? "Some pig?" You're "Some Exceptional Writer," Gretchen. Your talent takes my breath away so freakin many times, and this chapter is definitely one of them.

Not to be dense, but is this the end? If so, I think writing "The End" is necessary.

Also, teeny spag here:
Daddy tires (tries) to run between us,

Two more chapters left. I really appreciate this, Rachelle. Any thoughts on this weekend's Amish Adventure?

Oh my goodness Matthew finally bit the dust and now there is blood on the hands of these brothers. But it seems they have no regrets here as revenge is sweet. We will see what transpires after this dastardly deed settles. Another fine chapter in this well written and entertaining story Gretchen. Love Dolly x x x
