A lovely chapter. Now I know all good books have to have "a storm", but I really don't want one. Can't they just get married and live happily ever after? Lol. Just kidding. Life's never that simple. I continue to enjoy your story, and the excellent writing you always offer. Well done.

You're very kind, Wendy. Thank you very much. As you've seen so far, Brian's life has had its ups and downs, and we're not done with that yet. In the prologue he appeared to be at rock bottom, but we'll see if that's really true.

I'm glad you didn't take us through the Skype call! All seems to be going well for these two. Apart from an edge to the relationship between Julia and her roommate, a remarkably smooth ride. It might be worth introducing a couple of minor speedbumps along the way.
Watch out for You see where I'm going with this?. I'm not actually counting yet, but am aware of the repetition.
In the wider context, I think the longer the lull, the greater the storm needs to be.

The next few chapters will provide a few bumps in an unexpected and hopefully humorous way. So far I think there have been 3 repetitions of that phrase and there will likely be one or two more. It's purposeful and meant to be a pet phrase of theirs

Hi, Jim
I thought this chapter was perfectly fine. What's wrong with a happy chapter? What's wrong with people who don't like happy chapters?
I'm glad Brian and Julia hit it off and that she's such a good violinist. Sounds like she wants to be a professional with that.
I wish I could've heard the concert, but I can only based on what you say. That's only thing I think maybe you could've expanded on that a little bit on her side of it because you told it from his.
I don't mind happy at all. Thank you for making it happy.
I enjoyed reading your book chapter

Well, I agree with you, Pam. I'd much rather read happy chapters than sad or stressful ones all the time. The nature of this story requires both, though, so I try to do a balancing act and not dwell on either one too long. I go deeper into emotions with this story than most I have written. It will get very intense down the road a ways.
Absolutely, Julia is heading for a professional career as a violinist. Her talent will lead her in a particular direction, though. Brian really understands how important the violin is for her and will accept the route she chooses to follow.

They do seem to be getting along very well and aren't uncomfortable after being apart so long. Brian has it easier by having a roommate that he likes and can share things with. Julia is fortunate to find friendly people nearby as a roommate who doesn't want to be friends is hard to take. Been here done that. After two months of $600 phone bills and failing grades, her father came and got her, and half my wardrobe disappeared with her.

Oh, that's a shame that didn't work out. My daughter had a similar roommate her freshman year who was very different and never wanted to become friends. That's an unfortunate circumstance to be in.

Actually, they had three girls packed into every two-girl room and I ended up with two great roommates before the end of freshman year.
