Hahaha... you and Rachelle Crack me up. You are both very funny. I'm enjoying reading, Detour. I never have read a book from two points of view. Your joint adventure is very unique and entertaining. I can't get enough. Keep them coming.

Thank you, Gypsy. It's honestly so fun to write about this fictional trip. I really appreciate the support and the sixes. Gretchen

I don't drink coffee but I need my Cherry Coke Zero in the morning. I need caffeine. Some folks give little thought to the needs of others. I am glad you got nice people. Even if it is just a story. Karen

I don't have to have coffee, but it helps take the fog away. Lol. Thank you for this. Gretchen

Another wonderful chapter. I am so enjoying this creative enterprise of you two working together! Yes, that image of Rachelle's hair in "curlers" was worth another huge chuckle. Now, look out for the horse! Great writing. I loved it.

ok. ok. Now let's get to the really important stuff. What did you have for breakfast? Did they make fresh cinnamon rolls and hash brown casserole with scrambled eggs? You can't be stranded at an Amish farm and not get baked goods! I'll be waiting. otherwise, great story. lol

Next installment is breakfast. But I'm guessing eggs. Lol. Breakfast might be delayed until we find out if Ezra is hurt. Thank you for this. Gretchen

It sounds like and Rachelle want the Rooster to bite the dust! Ha ha ha. You and Rachelle have been thrown into a different world here Gretchen and you are both coping in separate ways and both of you are brining an amusing action packed story for us to read, much enjoyed, love Dolly x x x

Your adventures with the Amish are sure to be educational and are fun to read about. The horse is a different problem, having been stomped by one, I fear for the boy. Watching the sun rise in the country, even without a cup of coffee, is awe inspiring, isn't it?

I used to walk every morning to watch the sun rise over the ocean. Awe inspiring is the perfect description. I should really start doing that again. Thank you so much for this. Gretchen

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! This is hilarious...well, you know, except that ending where Ezra's on the ground and the horses are running amok.

I love the reminder of my corn cob curlers from last chapter and, in this chapter, my "tarp," Pollyanna, and the flaps of my dress flailing around behind me as I race for the horses. I am trying so hard to be a good guest and fit in, but your reminders that I am missing the mark are perfect - and uproarious.

Equally perfect is the sentence about the blank canvas of morning being painted and repainted by G-d himself. That IS what it seems like every day! You nailed that.

Anyway, I have really good news: Amish DO drink coffee! So your wishes for that part will come true around the breakfast table!

Fantastic chapter, Gretchen. You are the perfect co-author. We two German girls are killin' it!! (Oh, and that Irish part of you? Bobby and I went to see the Celtic Women perform here in Rochester several years back and had sprung for backstage passes. When they saw my red hair and light eyes and alabaster skin, they all asked if I were Irish, too! So I think that kind of makes me Honorary Irish, yes?)

I think Helene and Ezra will be non coffee drinkers. Perhaps Rebekah could find some that her parents have and she makes us both a cup. I can start peeking down my own shirt. You ask" what are you looking for?"
Me: This coffee is so damn strong, I think I feel actual hair growing "
Just a thought. I'm glad you liked this chapter. For me, it was easier to read ypurs then post. Can we do that again next week.

Hi, Gretchen

As soon as I saw the word Gretchen in the title, I knew it was you before I even opened it up and saw that it was you. It makes me chuckle.

I really liked this paragraph

"We escape out the door and step out into the cool purple and pink shadows of the early morning."

The entire story is very cute. When you say hello from Amish country in your notes, do you mean within this story or are you actually in real life in Amish country?

Your notes are humorous as well That no animals were injured in the making of this story or book chapter

Here I hope

"why, because, my car is still dead and hope it hasn't been towed to some other location,"

I enjoyed reading your book chapter

Good job. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you. No, I am still in the Outer Banks. Not in Amish country other than as a fictional character. I'm so glad you enjoyed this. Gretchen
