Well, if Julia's mother's friend has dogs, she couldn't be as uptight as Julia's mom! But I can imagine someone who is not used to dogs being quite unnerved by their rambunctious behavior. Great chapter which shows Brian's dedication to Julia!

Thanks, Helen. Newfs are so huge too, even puppies. It's no wonder she couldn't stand them.

Oh, I know Newfies! One guy in our old neighborhood had a monster-sized one who drooled uncontrollably. He has to periodically mop the walls of his house.

That takes a lot of courage for Brian to face New York traffic, but Julia really does need him. Hopefully he gets enough sleep to get back home. I don't see how Julia can practice with those dogs at the house, unless Brian takes her to his motel, where her practicing may not be allowed.

Nah, he drove. Didn't cost that much. No credit card yet but he has a trust fund.

"The woods" is a complex landscape, and it isn't always easy to navigate your way out. Even when you think you're out and in the clear, it may just be a temporary break in the forest and you're soon right back in them. We'll see if these two eventually find the true way out if there even is one, since maybe life itself is just one great woods and what we should be searching for is the place in the woods where we feel happy?

If you are interested in catching up, I provide a brief recap of the previous chapter in each new posting, so reading those would be a quick way to get the gist of the story without reading the whole thing.
