Hi Wayne,
more voters won't solve the fundamental issues around the voting booths which is that most folk don't read all the entries.
'eeny-meeny-miney-moe, catch a tiger by the tail' - pretty sure tail should be toe otherwise the rhyme doesn't work... lol
This was an entertaining read on its own accord.

That ain't right - voters not reading them all.
Yeah, but as much as I hate to say it, I learned the ditty with the 'N' word (and toe). But with a tiger.... And how could a tiger pay $50 every day anyway, if he hollers?

They could offer us the opportunity to 'rank' our picks: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, assigning 3 votes, 2 votes, and 1 vote. But I'm afraid the result would be fewer voters.

I agree with most everything you've said. Getting more voters would be great, but it won't help much until people start voting for the best post in its category than for friends who need a boost. Thanks for sharing.

This is a very well-written piece on a conundrum I have many times, too...and which I handle with the eeny-meeny-miney system, consoling myself with, "Really, there are no bad choices here."
I also think it would help to limit the number of participants. With so many contests, it's unlikely that I will spend a half-hour reading through all the entries so that I can be fair about choosing a "best of show." Instead, I'll forego voting altogether.
You did a terrific job with all you offered here, Wayne. Cogent and interesting from start to finish. If this were a contest, it would definitely be getting my vote. HA!! xoxox
