Good image and story to go with it, zanya. I didn't notice any glitches when I was on my computer. You have a very good opening hook. At least Jake had his grandmother to lean on, if only in the form of his chiming clock, reminding him of his grandmother. A good concluding line. Good luck in the contest.

This story is so appropriate for the effects of the Microsoft security breech by a third party that is in progress as I type. The computer systems of Airlines, hospitals, banks, the post office, and many businesses, are shut down. Your flash fiction contest entry demonstrates your quick thinking and creativity. Nice juxtaposition of old vs new technologies. Reliance on the new can and is a disturbing trend, though inevitable. Your story is a nice little reminder that all things old and new have their place. Well conveyed message in such a short format. Well written.
