There seem to be a lot of glitches with Advanced Editor the past few days. Hopefully these maintenance time outs means Tom is working on the problem.
Your free verse is poignant, tender, reflective.
What a pity so many of us do not sense our inner beauty or worth...
Great image, perfect background tone and font!
What was her name?

I feel so sad for your aunt. I never understand why some of my friends could never find the right husband. To me, they are all so beautiful. I think in our day, it's like they had to choose between a career or a husband. But your aunt seems to think too little of herself for some reason. I love that a tulip tree grew out of her grave. It's one of my favorite trees.

Thank you, Helen. Eva was the youngest in the family and her mom died when she was still young. Her sister and my grandmother took her in but I blame her for Eva's low self-image. Alma told her she wasn't healthy and should never think about getting married. She once told me she felt embarrassed about having been born female. i couldn't imagine why anyone would feel that way.

Beth, this is both beautiful and meaningful as you write her story in poetic form, the story of her insecurity and self-doubt because of her origins. yet she had much beauty within as wel. Your poem causes one to reflect on life and the choices one makes. One little typo in the second line of the third stanza: "ahe" should be "she". Best wishes for the contest.

Thank you Wendy. I loved my aunt and I felt sad because I don't think her life was a meaningful as it could have been. I'm glad you liked the poem and felt it worthy of six stars.

This was very lovely and tender. You dove deeply into the fabric of her life. I could picture it all, in color. Sorry I had no six to give, I am already out. I really liked this. Karen

Do I smile that she was able to bring beauty to this world through nature in her own simple way or do I cry because it's so sad that she could not see what others did? You told the story perfectly.

This is very well written but so sad. In a way though, it's also uplifting that we can find joy in the simple things of life. A beautiful message in this great contest entry, best of luck.
