I think humanity owes so much to trees. I think we won't know until Heaven how much more sentient they are and what gracious and generous beings they are. Thanks for this lovely tribute to them!

Thank you very much Helen! thanks for that extra shining star..
Comment from Gloria ....
This is a fine Choka poem that is layered in meaning. A tree is like all life and when it is felled and transformed into firewood it signifies mortality and impermanence. Yet still one that gives warmth until only dust remains.
Excellent poem, many thanks for sharing. :)

This life cycle of a tree is a lesson in the life cycle of all of us. I love the burning fireplace in the artwork. You have captured the essence of all that is good in our lives.
Thanks for expressing yourself so eloquently. This is an exceptional poem and deserves a six from me.
Thanks and good luck.

It's so true that a lot of trees end up being burnt and leaving ashes. But majority never makes to the fireplace. Some of them become furniture that will last for a long time.
Well done.

Comment from Debbie D'Arcy
This is so poignant when we think of the grandeur of the tree, asking nothing in return for its shade and shelter (great alliteration in that line) and yet so ungraciously cut down for our comfort. I love the personification which enhances the message. All skilfully fitting into your choka verse. Well done! Debbie

This is a nicely written Choka Japanese poem about the glory, beauty, and sad epitaph of a stately tree, that in death, still provides service. This is well thought out, creative, and thought-provoking. Thanks for sharing.

I love this poem because it reflects a poem I wrote for a friend who is a tree hugger. It is posted on Fan Story site- a long prose poem titled "A Tree Story for a Tree Hugger.
Your poem is very well written --- so much said in such a short Choka poem. Thanks much for sharing.

Yes, this is a nice poem about the cycle of a tree.
From what I see online, your poem, to me is a choka poem.
You have the right amount of syllables for each line.
The picture makes you feel warm and I like how you put the two colors together for the letters.
Good luck with your poem.
