Good acrostic poem to celebrate and draw attention to Juneteenth. My son-in-law is a wonderful black man and thankfully we live in a time when he is free to be my son-in-law.

I am part of a bi-racial family and I can't tell you how thankful I am that my great granddaughters are able to live their lives without fear of being enslaved. I would like to say that they won't face racism, but in this day and age, I don't think they will escape it. But I can pray!

Reading negros took me back to a shameful time when African Americans were slaves and treated worse than cattle. Although prejudice and bigotry still happens today.

It is certainly difficult to accept that it took a further two and a half years for the end of slavery proclamation to be set in place after the signing. And so long after the special date counted as the birth of America. A national shame. And still there is prejudice and discrimination. Excellent acrostic.
