Very nice artwork and tribute to go with it, John. Jan would be so pleased that you did this. It is very thoughtful and a special reminder to us to remember her and reflect on what the veterans and her country meant to her. She is missed. I will take a look at some of the things you mentioned. I am also proud to be an American and be able to live in this great country of ours.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness and sharing this. Very well done.
On a side note, we have a park nearby and every year 150 flags are on the field. I have a post about it with a video I took in my portfolio. My dad served 20 years in the Air Force and 20 more in civil service so Memorial Day, our flag, and our country mean a lot to me.

Pam, thank you so much for this incredible review which to me includes the side note. I have a regret! I never served and sincerely wish I did. I can?t change that and I cannot enlist now (too damn old).
Thank you so much,
John

You are welcome, John. No, but you can still support your country and be proud of it, like you did with this post. I think many people will appreciate it.

How long has it been since she moved above the veil that separates mortality to immortality where no pains remains, and she is writing with no errors, only dingers and extra base hits.

This is a warm and touching tribute to Jan who delighted us with her poetry and she is sorely missed by everyone on Fanstory. I enjoyed your tender words here John, a fine presentation, love Dolly x x x

Oh, so meaningful. Thanks for sharing. Tiny correction? Their instead of there...insignificant to the meaning. Did you serve? Having grown up in Africa freedom is a treasured gift we don't appreciate often here in America. Thanks for remembering. My dad served in WWII as a psychiatrist in England at the end of the war. I have all his love letters to mom. Thanks, Esther

One regret I have in life is that I never served. I wanted to join the Coast Guard after high school in 1972 and my parents talked me out of it. Wish they hadn?t.
Thank you Esther.

This is a nice commentary on Jan's lovely writing that plucked the heartstrings. She was certainly a loyal American and recognized the true gifts of democracy.

Yes, this is great. I really miss Jan. She was such a polific writer and she really did have so much respect for those soldiers who gave thier lives for our country. She also like astromony, cats, ghosts, and family member and her life with her grandparents in the Smokies.

This is a lovely story as you think of Jan and her beutiful tributes to all those in the defence forces. She put her heart and tears into those posts and she would love your tribute. Nicely done,
cheers.

Hi John,
to tell you the truth, it's a real shame we need one day of the year to honour the brave souls who serve and protect our right to freedom... for me it's an everyday thing!
What a really beautiful thought in writing this as another memory of a fallen comrade, Jan.... and of course, to honour veterans on this day of memorial.
Yes, I did read Jan's posts and her relentless fight on behalf of the service men and women who gave so bravely... and to those who are still trying to negotiate life because of it.
Thank you for highlighting our fallen fanstory friend, family and those who have served for a greater cause John!
With our thoughts we create...
memories that count.
she was always in 'their' corner.
Kindest regards,
James.
