Copperheads

Not all that big, but dangerous, with a bite capable of inflicting death. I'm talking about a four-foot snake. A passenger riding uninvited in your car.
I'm referring to a copperhead, an Australian snake with a bite that can kill. Fear not though, treatment is available. I am however suggesting, there are better hitch-hikers to offer a ride to.

Unlikely friendly ride along for certain.

Snakes can be easily camouflaged and can surprise us at times and it is always best to check first before poking them and making them angry. There is a chance that snakes will attack at any time, a scary poem for the contest, many people are scared of snakes, love Dolly x

Yes, always given a wide berth, I shudder even then.

I think that snakes are dangerous and have deadly venom. It would be better to avoid those animals. Who knows what will happen next. Excellent work! No mistakes found. Interesting!

Hi
This is a well written poem about what many people are afraid of. Snakes hide themselves well. The rattlesnake is one with his own warning system.
Good luck with the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
Joan.

This is a good entry for the Phobia Free Verse competition. I've never been afraid of snakes in general (raised with brothers), but I certainly wouldn't want to meet a poisonous one. My mother hated snakes and I can understand why people fear them.. Your poem is a good warning to be wary. Good luck!

They are beautiful creatures but, as you say, with deadly venom should they be disturbed. Your evocative free verse firstly paints a picture of the snake's quality of camouflage with its surroundings, a warning that its threat is not always visible. Then, the danger increases with the reference to its poison and finally to its potentially fatal effects. A great subject for the contest prompt in an excellent presentation. Well done and good luck! I enjoyed this free verse poem about the copperhead. I can see why this snake would cause a frightful phobia. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

They certainly blend in with their surroundings. We have them here in Texas, but I'm not a fan. My phobia is spiders, and I've hurt myself getting away from them, lol. Thank you for sharing.
God bless.

An excellent entry for the Phobias writing prompt. This poem meets the required criteria. As a former Floridian, I once went outside to hang sheets on our clothesline only to come eye to eye with a Copperhead hanging from the line. I was a teenager at the time and I never saw my dad run so fast when I screamed for him. lol They are very scary! Nicely written. Good luck.

This is a great free verse post about your phobia. I am right there with you. I do not like any kind or type of snake period. I try not to bother or even come close to any of them. That picture was too real to me. Very good descriptive words and very good imagery. Best wishes in the contest. Teri
