There seems to be two sides to Esther, one who is understanding, who has surprised herself by feeling compassion for a mortal who is going through much the same as she did, and then the side that really wants to use Madeline for her own ends. But what? What Benny did was understandable but wrong. He needs to learn to listen before judging anyone. You've left us with another ghost, one lower down than our upstairs ghosts. I wonder if Lorrie believe Madeline. Great ending here, my friend. I'm really loving all those ghosts. Love and hugs, dear friend. Sandra xxxx

I think Lorrie knew that someone had been in the garden with Madeline. And Benny, often falls back on his Hitman attitude, forgetting he is searching for redemption, not restitution. And Esther...well, her world has suddenly been shaken and I am sure Victoria will add something to the mix. We shall see how it unfolds.
Thank you so much for the kind review.... I hope you enjoy the next chapter... and the next. LOL
Have a great day! Smiles, hugs and always my love..Carol

I like that Benny is so emotionally out of control. You name the character as the hitman. I haven't been able to read all the chapters, so I hope I'm not speaking out of turn, but that's a little different from the cold and calculated stereotype. So cool! I am ever so tired of the same old junk. I'll catch up when I'm able. You must fish a little when you are sitting by the water absorbing a sense of life because you hooked me as a reader. I'm a wily little fish too, so hard to hook.

Oh, what a wonderful review. How kind of you to look deeper into my writing and my characters. I tend to leave surprises everywhere...Nothing more boring than the same humdrum, knowing what lies in the next chapter. I am thrilled you enjoyed and I hope you return for more.

Oh goodness, another ghost! The mansion is...infested with them. But now we're wondering what Esther's motives are. Very well written chapter that draws the reader in instantly with Bennys attack on Madeline.

Her eyes, deep pools of sadness, accessed Madeline,
(Do you mean 'assessed' here?)

Thank you for catching my mistake... I have many lately. I am glad that you enjoyed the chapter and the introduction of Esther. What to do with Benny? His mortal being as a hitman kicks in many a time. Have a great day!

Maybe Esther and Madeline can help each other and bring some good out of this situation. No one knows who to trust, and even the characters themselves, being realistic and true to life even though they are (mostly) dead show inconsistencies just like the rest of us. A fine chapter.

Esther has been hurt in the past so she sees Madelines pain, but she also has been self-taught to protect herself first. I hope that the best can come from the relationship...they both need someone to lean on.

After reading this story, I might watch all directions from now on. Thinking I'm alone, or supposed to be. And knowing that in reality, there are probably other all around me. Even in the garden. :-) Thanks for sharing.

I am honored by your review and the stars. I wonder at times whether I can full fill what the reader is looking for in a ghost story, but you make me smile. Have a great day!

Oh, a new character! Now we'll have compassion awakened in both Madeline and in Esther. I hope they can help each other. I hope Benny will allow Madeline to finally share what she overheard.

Thanks for the catch of my typing...appreciate it very much. And yes, I hope that Esther and Madeline can find common ground because both have felt betrayal and pain. It's time for a better day.
