That's beautiful, warm, lazy, contented and so, so foreign. With me it's plovers, kookaburras, magpies, tawny frogmouths... oh, but we do have crickets!

I thought your gave us a clear picture of a tranquil evening in the Southern bayou. The imagery you use, from the rhythmic creak of the rocking chair to the sounds of nature like woodpeckers creates a serene atmosphere. I love that! The use of local dialect makes this seem so real! I felt like I was there. The use of sounds, such as "neak, neak" and "whoo!" made this feel almost like a song. Great job. Your poem is so creative and enjoyable.

My dark mind sees a gator on the porch and one less stocking to darn. To feel those nights again once before I'm gone would priceless. To feel it every night, heaven.
