Congratulations on reaching the 1000 milestone with your writing. I enjoyed this story very much. Especially like it because I have a tendency to do art myself and I appreciate artwork no matter who it's done by. Patricia .

Hello Patricia, Yes, you and I are both artists! Albert was amazing, he went on to set up schools of art and his gift goes on today in the generations that came after him. Love, Kay.

This artist deserves some recognition. I can see how his paintings are viewed by many. Your words give Albert Namatjira a voice which he deserves. Are his paintings in a museum? I would love to see them. Congrats on your 1000 post.

Hello Elaine, Yes, his work is all over the World. Aboriginal people are very shy. Their work is sold everywhere. Look up Albert Namatjira on google. Love, Kay.

You're so skilled at these flash fiction posts, including historic and political issues in such an economic yet entertaining form! I love his art and your story around it chimes (sadly) with a prevailing tendency still to fail to give these indigenous people the respect and identity they deserve. Well done and good luck, Kay! Debbie x
PS And congrats on your 1000th post! Wow you're quite the doyenne:))

Hi, Debbie, It's been a week of joy for me. Winning a 1st and a 3rd. Over $100 has given me the chance to stop reviewing and start writing, boy, are they doing well. Thank you my friend. Love, Kay.

Iwas wondering what is meant by 'made him an Australian" Was nt he the original Australians?
Just for the knowledge ,are the aborigine Autralians really black?

Two questions my friend 1. The whites owned Australia when they invaded in 1788. They looked down on the Black man and treated them like dogs. 2. The tribal aborigine (living in the bush) is jet black.
They don't mix with whites and live off the land. The city blacks are now mixed races, from blonde to caramel colors. I hope this has made it clearer for you. My Grandma was jet black and I ended up a blonde! Cheers, Kay.

Congrats on your 1,000 post! Wow! This is a good one! The imagery of the red plains, white gum tree, and purple mountains brings me a sense of the Australian landscape and Albert's artistic inspiration. Albert's emotional turmoil is clear as he prepares to showcase his artwork for the Queen's visit. Nicely done! You share an interesting story with just 150 words!

Hello Michael, I was young when the Queen visited Oz. I still remember how the blacks were treated; to make it worse, Albert had to be recognized by the Queen before he could hang his work in the National Art gallery! Racial indifference. Now our indigenous folks are taking back their identity. Cheers, Kay.

It is sad in the fact that the Queen probably thought she was doing him a favor, while what she did was actually incredibly offensive.
Great piece. Makes the reader wonder how much is actually fiction?

Hi Douglas, I wrote this around the event that happened in 1953. The Queen wouldn't have known what she was doing. She wanted to see how the aboriginals lived; on the land and from the land. The whites stole our country in 1788 and now we are taking it back! Cheers. Kay.
