That is awful, the situation, not the writing. I hope it isn't but it feels too true not to be a real story. A Naani poem should be about human interactions and relations and this is gut-wrenchingly so. Good Luck with the competition.

Thank you for such an insightful review. Yes, several people (especially one) I know have been touched addiction. The one "addict" closes to me has managed to turn it around, but this naani could have been very close to a reality.

This is a sad poem. Drug addiction is a big problem in our country and it seems to be getting worse. The picture goes well with the poem. Great job

I love the switch between the lines, a complete 360 degrees. This form is very interesting. What a wonderfully written poem. Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

Thank you, for "getting" my intent on this one. It's a wonderful form, unfortunately abused by many.

Well, oh my goodness, that took an unexpected turn at the ending. Kerplowie.
Drugs are a scourge upon the Earth. Shatters more dreams than McDonalds serves hamburgers.

An excellent entry for the Naani poem writing prompt. This poem sends a powerful message and shows the heartbreak caused by drug use. nicely done. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you, but your insightful review

What a sad poem. It's full of expectation followed by heartbreak. Addiction is a terrible thing. The loss of the pearls is a good example of something physically lost, but also a symbol of the loss of family that often comes with addiction. Wonderfully written.

Well, make my day "mintybee" Thank you so much for this honor. You were spot on with your review. Addiction is so destructive, and most families have been touched by it.
