I really enjoyed reading this, Jodi, I started and didn't stop until I got to the ending, and that shows how good you writing is...I feel the same about my pen and pencil. I started writing poetry when I was in 6th grade, and haven't stopped yet...Its a way of talking to anyone, and everyone, about anything and everything...And it works for me...Thanks for sharing this with us, it was a pleasure reading.
All the best, keep on keeping on...Writing!
Warmly,
Victoria

You show us the passion of a writer! And don't be surprised that a poem goes a completely different direction. Shelley has often quoted Robert Frost "I have never started a poem yet whose end I knew. Writing a poem is discovering."
Good to meet you - I see you started just this year.
Best wishes in the contest!

Writing poetry and expressing your emotions with your words is a love matched by nothing else. I can't write poetry but find myself in stories...I can make my characters come alive. Keep writing and enjoy!

Jodi, from this verbiage, you've got it bad, and that's good...Even if this is
a persona "free verse" poem, the results are the same, the protagonist or
author has what is simply called "Poesegraphilia." Although it has not been
listed in the DSM-5 as a disorder, some of the symptoms meet some of the criteria associated w/disorders...The picture and the format are made for each other. Good luck in the contest. teafor2

Thanks so much for the review! I think I exaggerated a little when I related it sexually, but it is my new obsession! 😜

I love reading about writing and this posting is so relatable. Some times the words just bubble up inside us and are in a rush to get out.
Sorry I am only able to give a virtual six for such a wonderful entry. Sincere best wishes!

It's very energetic. I couldn't help but consume this entire poem in one breath - it just kept barreling forth. I like the wind-down at the end, especially the visual tapering of the sequentially shorter words.
This sounds great read aloud and would do very well at a live poetry reading / poetry slam.
Excellent choice of font. It's a passionate all-caps sharpie scrawl. Perfect for this poem.

I like this poem. I think it speaks to me writers poetry. When I first began writing poetry back in 1985, the words just flowed through my penis, and it seemed like I couldn't write fast enough to write the poems now, sometime later I am one who has written close to 4000 poems. I don't know why I have such a desire to write poetry but I do. Patricia .

Let those words fall to the page so that they last beyond death Jodi. I enjoyed the excitement and energy in your free-write and wish you luck with the contest, love Dolly x

Maybe it's just me but there was a slight sexual tension throughout the whole piece, haha. I'm not a huge fan of this style of poetry, but you wield it well!
Good luck in your contest!
