It looks really bad but by accident it seems that Layla took out one of the bad guys. But who's going to rescue Jake? Meanwhile, Troy and Alyssa are in a safe haven. A bad situation here.

Accident on her part but a set up by the Chief. Layla hadn't put a knife into Tommy, he would have been arrested for attempted murder...his life was done because the Chief wanted him gone because of Tommy and Antonio botching the job. As for Jake, though he didn't expect to get shot, had a few backup plans of his own.

This was good, especially as it went like real life. Few stings are as neat as those on tv. And this time luck took out a couple of killers, although they may survive. Hopefully no one but Jake pulls through. It is amazing you are keeping all your balls in the air without a fumble.

Oh I fall down...almost split my head open trying to figure out this chapter... then realized I had to rescue Layla and I'd knocked her Knight in Armor out of the picture ? maybe. Thank you as always.

Again, nothing to add to the drama except I will hold my breath until the next posting! You are going to bring this all together with a grand finale! Excellent writing.

Thanks your reading the wild and wooly park scene. Like the being in the wild west almost....or undercover in gangster land.

Yikes Layla killed Tommy before he could kill here but now she in deep trouble of killing a police officer. I'm sure Richard is Okay with that outsome. I don't if he had any real affection for Tommy. What I'm wondering is who snatched up Marco.

As far as Tommy goes, Richard made him take Antonio's place... if he had killed Layla, he would go to prison....and now that Layla has killed him..he can get rid of Layla

Yes, Marco was snatched by three men.... there was a clue in Chap 13

Glad you liked the chapter... Smiles and hugs, Carol

Oh no!! I don't believe Jake is dead! Now poor Layla is on her own in that dirty cop Richard's hands, everything is going wrong. How is she going to get out of this one? I will be watching for the next part, my friend. Well done! Love and hugs, Sandra xxx

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

Before I joined FanStory, I read Sue Grafton, John Grisham, James Patterson, Scott Turow, Lisa Scottoline, and J. A. Jance. to name a few. All are mystery, crime, action writers, my favorite genre. They have nothing on you.

This chapter didn't go as I expected, but the action and suspense was there. I didn't expect Jake and the brunette, and I was glad Layla admitted to herself that she didn't know what she was doing. I enjoyed the humorous dialogue of the working girls on the corner when Layla walked up.

I'm waiting for Richard to get what's coming to him. So far, everything is going his way. Great chapter. Actually, all you chapters are sixes.

I've had a real tough day today... My granddaughter is at it again, but I don't want to think about it.
Instead I want to tell you that you made my day and put the biggest smile on my face. Your first paragraph was the biggest ego boost I could ever ask for...and then you added the cherry on the top ( a six). Thsnk you ever so much for your kindness. Love you, Lorraine!!! Smiles and hugs, Carol

Nicely done again. This was very enjoyable. The scene is rich with suspense and emotion, leaving me eager to see how Layla's story unfolds. She's sure in a difficult place. I'm looking forward to seeing how she handles it. Great writing as this was easy to read and easily kept my interest.

That was a huge flurry of activity! This is a real mind bender, keeping track of who's on which team. Layla and Jake both in trouble now. It just gets deeper and thicker as we go!

She wondered where Jake was at (no 'at')

package of cigarettes (pack)

Julie :-)

I'm hoping Jake will be all right and he'll be able to help Layla. She's innocent and Tommy had his hands around her throat. I can't wait to read more.

She smiled at the bartender, "A glass (bartender.)
