I really like your deep reflection on the "dead And dismembered heros" ('heroes' unless yours is a British spelling)
My problem with heroes is the godlike, unattainable way they were presented to us. As a child I admired Washington and Columbus and loved all those biographies for kids. But I wish that they had given us a more well-rounded view in historical contexts because kids can understand that complexity. The Bible upholds Abraham and David. But they had their faults as well as their acts of heroic faith. We need those kinds of heroes. If we idealize our heroes, then what we have the disenchantment which you have so well described in your poem.

Thanks for the excellent review and your interesting perspective on the piece. You are speaking here of the humanity of heroes. I guess that is what I am getting at; that there may really be no heroes, or that we are all these heroes, fallen from grace. Nobody's perfect. Although everyone seems to want to be diva these days. estory

I think it's the Internet culture that affects people these days. They forget we're all human and need to be humble. Yet we can give credit where it's due. Historical figures should not be portrayed like cartoons or propaganda.

Mankind hasn't changed so much over the centuries. Some people are impressed with another accomplishment and erects a statue in their honor but values change an in time the earlier heroes are forgotten and others take their place. Time moves on and we have to move with it or get left behind.

Thanks for the excellent review and I agree; man hasn't really changed. We have just torn down one set of statues and put up another. We discriminate against different people today. But it is still discrimination. estory

It has long been my belief that if we forget history, and those who went before us, we were doomed to come to repeat what was done before our time. I enjoyed your poem, and it makes a lot of sense to me. Patricia .

Thanks for the great review and I agree. Erasing history is a dangerous thing. Or rewriting it. estory

Thank you for sharing this very well written poem. It gives your reader somethings to think about. I'm pretty sure our society isn't moving toward the good. I enjoyed reading.
