Ayesha swaggers through this chapter, thrusting her husband's lawyer aside with some sharp words, and then lands in with this young, conservationist lawyer to set up the charitable trust. I like the tense, sharp dialogue between Ayesha and Johnno. She is feeling the power in her hands with all this money she has come into. Her plan to save both Bapit and the elephant in one swoop seems ambitious. It can't be that easy. I get the feeling we haven't heard the last from Johnno either. We await your next chapter...estory

Thanks for your review and comments, estory. Yes, I suspect Ayesha may find a few impediments to her plan. Whether she's strong enough to surmount them remains to be seen. All the best, Tony.

Ayesha has a good idea, an elephant sanctuary would be awesome. I feel so sad for them.

Steve Kraft sounds like a handsome man, should Bapit be worried about it?

Is Ayesha's money safe? I don't trust Johnno.

I can't wait to read the next chater.

Thanks for your comments, Gypsy. It looks as if Ayesha may have a few more hurdles to clear, both emotionally and at the hands of rogues. All good wishes, Tony

Wonderful chapter, Tony. I loved the contrast between the two men Ayesha met with.

This was a terrific description of the first situation she planned to encounter:

"She could see the phallic skyscraper winking at her in the morning sun. She relished the idea of entering this world of male egos, and she had every intention of deflating at least one of them."

Humorous and very true to what happened. I also loved this remark from Johnno, which served to seal his fate:

"You don't need to worry your pretty little head about such things."

Not the right thing to say to Ayesha.

This was also an excellent description of her current attitude about her newly acquired fortune:

"The money didn't mean as much to her as it once might have done. She was no longer chained to a cross of gold. She already knew that wealth could form the walls of a prison, but she was coming to realise that, when wisely shared, it could also give great freedom."

Very perceptive of her. She is a terrific character you've created. Assertive, purposeful, forthright, and has good values. She's also thoughtful, as she desires to help Bapit with his future by attempting to secure a position with Lek Chailert for him.

Just a great chapter. - Jim

You do a brilliant job of creating a sense of place in your writing. I hope Ayesha manages to see what is really going on here, especially as her lawyers are trying to keep her away from her affairs. I was kept engaged right the way through and I can't wait to read the next chapter.

Hello, Tony!
Well, I do love a feisty, confidant woman, and I simply cannot abide arrogant, demeaning men! So this chapter is a winner for me.
I smiled at the following exchange:
Johnno stared at her in disbelief then burst out laughing. 'An elephant? Oh, my! That's a good one. Then what? I suppose you realise you could buy a whole flock of them with a few months' interest on your capital. Do you hear me? A whole flock!'

'A herd, Mr Johnson. A herd.'

'I'm glad you heard. Now do you understand why you need professionals to manage your money for you?'

'I understand. I'm not as stupid as you seem to think I am. I shall be making alternative arrangements, that's all.'

Exceptionally well-crafted, Tony!
Much enjoyed.

Ayesha has a wonderful idea. You have written this part with a joining of good forces as elephants are concerned. Her idea also has a role for Bapit in protecting the elephants and teaching others to train them with kindness. This is a very impressive idea on your part to show Ayesha as the good person she is.

I like that she took the smarmy lawyer/investment Johnno and put him in his place. I hate men like that. I am wondering if this new guy might end up being a good guy/romantic interest. Another great installment. Gretchen

Thanks, Gretchen. Steve certainly seems to be her kind of guy. I'll be as interested as you in finding how that plays out. Unwritten at this stage but a few thoughts buzzing around. All good wishes, Tony.

She must really be racking up the frequent flyers miles. And this stopover just created another twist. Once again I am amazed at the realism of the character activities you develope from shower, to swim, smelling the air, to plans.
She handled Johnno like a pro. Her new plans seem to be flowing well. She seems to be shedding baggage and making a new friend. Another fine chapter.

Thanks for your affirming comments, Tom. I became much more aware of the significance of air miles when I read about the drop in CO2 emissions during the early years of COVID.
reply by Treischel on 20-Feb-2024
I certainly would be concerned about a drop in CC2 since all plants need it for photosynthesis. Without it all plants would die.
