I appreciate the humorous take coupled with the sweet sentiment at the very end. I also love the bit about Mugsy. I'm not a huge basketball fan is, but my husband is and he talks about him all the time as one of his favorites.

I almost scrolled right past this post without realizing you as the author. And you're spot-on as you usually are. We all would like to change a few things about ourselves, and many more than a few. But if we keep striving to be the best we can be, who knows, maybe we will become the person we can possibly be. :-) Thanks for sharing.

But a couple more zeroes at the end of my bank balance would be nice.

That was beautiful, Wayne. I'll bet your sweetie loved that one. Just because we may not be the perfect person we wish to be doesn't mean we shouldn't strive to improve ourselves. Nor does it mean we should get down on ourselves for not living up to every ideal. We love our spouses for who they are, not what they might ideally be, and hope they love us the same way. - Jim

Thank you.
Love is indeed better than having a Tommy Morrison punch.

I love your humor and how you thread it through a most delightful expression of love for your wife. Don't change a thing - not your writing style or how you see the world. She is a lucky gal.

Like many people you aim extremely high, and are basically dissatisfied with your inability to achieve. Happily you come down to measure the true values in life, and realise that satisfaction is based on love. kay

Well done. I don't know all those American heroes but that doesn't matter. Your point is clear, and you made it well. You are not them - and you don't need to be. Your wife loves you just as you are, and you can be very satisfied with that gift of love. You can be well satisfied that you are unique and special. Best wishes for the contest.

Lovely sentiment, Wayne, and all I would expect from a writer of such a calibre. I love your 'clean' curse words too. And I think many of us would sympathise exactly with your thoughts.
