A brilliant poem about a man who captured the hearts and souls of at least one generation. Your writing was flawless, your song titles well placed. I learned a lot and was entertained. The hallmarks of great writing.

Hugs,
Rhonda

You describe well what a fascinating life Frank Sinatra has lived. He is truly one of the great entertainers, and his music will live on for many more years to come. A well written piece, I really enjoyed it.

I've always thought him streets ahead of Crosby. His vocal phrasing and breath control, which apparently were inspired by his early work with Tommy Dorsey, a trombone player, are almost impossible to replicate. I am just so glad that in 1990 I paid £100 for a ticket to see him in London. An unforgettable experience; I was in the same room as genius. You have put this together superbly as always. The blending of titles of life is one of your best yet. Well done. And thank you!

(Best album is 'Sinatra at the Sands', with Count Basie and his Orchestra, directed by Quincy Jones. 1965. Look it up. It is magical.)

Well that's a wonderful review because I knew you were the afficionado here and, I don't mind telling, this was a bit of a struggle in the beginning because so many of his song titles are in the first person or all about love which is arguably the worst rhyming word. That's amazing that you saw him in 1990. He would have been really old and, being a perfectionist, really troubled by the change in his voice. Thank you so much for this and your suggestion. It was worth it in the end. Take care Debbie x

Ah, but his voice was wonderful at age 75!

Who doesn't love old blue eyes?

Amazing how many song titles you've managed to fit in, like fine mosaic pieces, as you shared so much biographical material!

My dad sang professionally for a bit, back in Sinatra's hey days...

(Dad opened in Boston, for Lewis & Martin, which became his favorite story from that point on!)

Sinatra was played in our home every day...

I assimilated the words to just about every song he recorded, by sheer exposure!

I love his version of "That's Why the Lady is a Tramp"

(I'm listening to that as I type here...)

Love, love, love your extraordinary skill!

You do it your way!

(Sorry, I just couldn't resist)

Karenina

Good grief! 6.1 kg. No wonder she only had one child! Another clever biographical poem incorporating his most famous hits and highlighting significant life events. Well researched, as always.

loved this tribute to Frank Sinatra. I loved his style and loved the song that you chose to feature which I am listening to as I write this. I can't wait to see what you do with Frank Zappa and Captain Beefhart.

I absolutely loved your poem. I grew up listening to Frank Sinatra. I knew every song you expressively wrote about. And... thanks for your video! That song... "My Way" was my Dad's favorite Sinatra sing and we had it sung at his funeral. Thanks for taking me down this musical memory lane from this fabulous entertainer!

You says it correctly, it isn't easy to struggle and make a name.

Yet, he
"In Hollywood he'd also chart
a path to boost his name.
With Tender Trap and Young at Heart,
he garnered rich acclaim."

I enjoy almost every one of his songs. It is amazing you can write a poem to tie in many of his song.

Thank you for sharing the poem with us.

You certainly packed a great deal of information, as well as his song titles into this well done poem about Frank Sinatra. I love that he has his own distinctive smooth style. I did go to see him once.
