I like the picture. The background shows the debris of a collapsed building.

Such situation as reflected in the poem that good things are destroyed and now she can only "cling to torn dreams."

Thanks for sharing

Thank you once more for your kindness! You have to wonder what's left of their lives even if they survive. The heart has been torn out of them. Take care Debbie

Very chilling of the cruel realities of war. It's heartbreaking to see so much of this on the earth today. War robs the children first.

Sending you my best today as always, and best wishes for the upcoming contest.

A great title leading to a poem that expresses the true horror of war-impact on next generation- when it is unleashed, wherever it may be on the plane.t

Well done with this three line poem Debbie. The alliteration of all the C words adds to the dread and despair of war for those caught up in it. The way she clings to her teddy in front of all that destruction is heartbreaking.

a masterful short anti-war poem. there is so much horrid things going on in the world with two major wars going on and minor wars going on in Sudan, and Myarmar as well.

Excellent - you say so much in just three lines. I like the alliteration (collateral carnage, an unfortunate reality), I "like" the sense of death (ghostly) and foreboding (chill winds), and I really like the way the child clings to her dreams, as she does to her plush toys, probably her only source of comfort. Best wishes for the contest.

It is sad that when a country is at war it is horrific of the war crimes bad people commit. The sentences flow with clarity. Excellent work! Thank you for sharing!

This photo is sadly reminiscent of a photo of a young girl clutching her precious doll after a horrendous air raid by the German Air Force during World War II. I guess we will never learn that God does not appreciate our putting his precious little children in harm's way. No matter which name we call him by.
