Wow, John! I'm freaking starving now, my friend! Hahaha.
I'm actually going to bookmark this because I want to go back and try some of those sandwiches!
I love mayo and never thought for a single minute to zip it up with garlic or lime juice! I loved this piece! Best, JohnC

I buy three packages of hamburger rolls to suit me for quite awhile. They don't mold & can be used for everything. If I want to make grilled cheese, I just flatten the rolls & that works fine.

I ate dinner already and you're still making me hungry! Thanks for sharing all your sandwich knowledge, John! I, personally, am not a fan of bread but I do like ciabatta. I found that sprouts are a great addition to sandwiches. I've been sprouting radish and broccoli since moving here!
You know your palette. (palate) unless you're talking about the artist's wooden board thingy with the thumb hole.

Hmph? unless the palette is holding a roast beef and Swiss with Cole slaw and Russian dressing and a gold Guinness, I?d better watch my pallets!
Thanks for the correction.
You?re #1, cheers.

Lol! Who knew there could be so many homonyms for palate!

Never heard of such a day, and anyway, you must have been hungry and unfed any samwiches when these words were penned. Are you feeling faint? Put your feet above your head, while in bed and the hungries should go away.

I never fold my pizza! (Just saying)
Your comment intro was hysterical, but please don't ever stop your foray into "Poet-tray" --
I'm hungry now... Hmm. Guess it's grilled cheese or PB&J tonight.
But soon? A French Dip!
Also LIVE those post turkey day Pilgrim Sandwiches.
(I spread French potato and pork dressing on my bread, like mayo...that couldn't possibly add more calories, right?)
I'm a foodie. I'm going to bookcase this so I can try some of your creations!
Yum!

I agree. Grilled cheese and tomato soup have been a favorite since childhood... Add a slice of tomato and it's a FEAST!

Well, no one can say that sandwiches are boring after reading this. Sounds like some wonderful combinations. I usually have the same every day. (Dark seeded bread with peanut butter and sliced apple.lol. ) I'll change it up. Very well written.

OMG! I've never been a big sandwich fan, except for Hoagies and Cheese Steaks, since I was born and grew up in Philadelphia, where those sandwiches are king. I now live in Florida where they enjoy Cuban sandwiches that include ham, roasted pork, Swiss cheese, salami, sour pickles, mustard and Cuban bread. I've never had one.
Your Heavens to Roast Beef sounds delicious. The Grandfather is also worth a try. I usually don't like mayonnaise, but if I season it, who knows. I'm going to try it. I'm also going to try arugula on a sandwich. Yum. Thank you for this delicious, informative post.
For example: Ham snd Swiss (and)

Wow. What a fantastic review. Thank you so much.
Arugula as the greens on a sandwich is a great choice depending on the components.
I love the Cuban sandwich especially with a Mojito!
Thanks so much.

This is a droolingly funny posting--especially with the opening monorhyme lines. Then next comes some food history and a listing of fav sandwiches before concluding with the encouragement to be culinarily creative. Love it! ð???

Another funny, entertaining and very informative post here, John, absolutely making my mouth water! Those are some very classy sandwiches you're suggesting, bringing this, otherwise, (in my household anyway) very mundane snack to a whole new level of Cordon Bleu magnificence:) Lovely introduction and great sandwich day celebration! Thanks for sharing. Debbie
