Thank you very much Barbara. (He?s now 41, and we were never given any assurances that he would even reach adulthood, so he?s done well.)
    We all appreciate your prayers.

Thank you for giving us an update. Once again we are reassured that God answers prayers and gives peace. You were wise to pray for clarity and God's will in the matter. It seems his sweet disposition makes him a favorite of those who get to know him. He is living his purpose for now.

Thank you for understanding. Each human being, regardless of what he looks like or can do is precious and to be valued. Still a lot of ups and downs - today he didn?t look at all well again. Many thanks for your support and care.

Dear Wendy, I wish I had a whole handful of sixes! Your story here is so moving and yet, throughout, you come over as the strongest of people, relating the facts with immense and truly admirable dignity and belief. You have been through so much over the last few weeks in particular and must be feeling at this point that a weight has been, at least temporarily, lifted from your shoulders. There is a way to go and, without the hospital being directly there, I know this will remain a challenging time for everyone. I offer you my prayers and sincere best wishes that his recovery be sustained. He is a remarkable young man and is fighting this all the way. A credit to the hospital and to yourself as well. Thanks for sharing, Debbie

Thank you Debbie for your sincere and heartfelt support and encouragement. Yes, a long way to go yet. Today he did not look at all well again so there?ll be still a lot of ups and downs. Your words of encouragement are very meaningful to me right now, and I can?t tell you how much I appreciate them. Thank you.

Well written.
The falsely based, age-old question really boils down to "What is this person's contribution to society?" whether resources are assigned to their care. Well, how about the businessman who files bankruptcy, or the actor who's movie lost money, or the footballer who lost a match? It isn't a person's contribution, it's a person's being.

Absolutely right. His gentle sweet personality draws out compassion in others, he teaches others to slow down and appreciate simple pleasures, nature and its sights and sounds, beautiful music which obviously moves him, the feel of a breeze, the excitement of speed ? Yes, sometimes " normal" people are role models for greed and self-centred indulgence.
Exactly - the value in his life is because he is a living human being, it?s who he is, not what he does or can do. And that should be how we all value each other. Lol. Sorry, I got carried away. Many thanks for your genuine care, and for your insight.

I can not imagine what you must have been going through, Wendy. I have thought about this situation many times and have had numerous conversations with friends and relatives. I hope I am never in that predicament. I don't know what I would do, but prayer is probably best.

Many people are biased against giving equivalent medical treatment to disabled people, considering them to be of lesser value. Not worth spending money on etc. but to me they have equal value. Often show more love and acceptance of others than "normal" people offer, and have gentle, sweet personalities.
It is indeed a hard place to be in. I am glad he received good care. His body could not have coped with having the drain procedure, so he still is far from well. Today he was worse again, very pale and listless. I prayed for peace and clarity and wisdom, and they have been given. But the road ahead will be long and slow. But I am glad he has been offered the best care possible for his complex needs. Thank you for your kind review. And also for the six stars. That means a lot to me as well.

Challenges they say make us stronger.
But they can take a hard toll on us.
Your narration is very eloquent.
Take a deep breath , it's good to be less stressed.
All the best. :-))Z.

I am not stressed at present, although I will say it has not been an easy three weeks. Unless one has lived with the biased attitudes towards disabled people it is hard to understand the complexities of being in a position of responsibility for the life of another. Thank you for reviewing. Appreciated always.

I agree that quality of life is subjective and not up for someone else such as you to decide for someone else. Your foster son is indeed in good hands. It sounds like he is well taken care of and is the nurse's favorite patient.
Thanks for sharing his progress. He is loved and at that, he deserves to live as long as he can. My thoughts go out to you and your foster son.
Give him his quality of life while he is still on this earth.
Jesse

Thank you Jesse. That is absolutely the plan. His life is just as precious as that of anyone else. Today he is not at all well again. A lot of ups and downs still to come I think. Thank you for your very kind and compassionate review. Always appreciated.

What wonderful news, Wendy, to hear your foster son has improved. You are quite right! His life is precious and anyone suggesting it is "less than" because of his special needs is in need of prayer.

May his progress continue under the tender care of staff.

He has you as his advocate and I have to believe God will give you the wisdom and strength to enrich each day he is blessed with!

Thank you so much for your compassionate review and kind supportive words. Today has not been a good day for him, very pale and listless. Probably a lot more ups and downs yet. I hope they don?t send him home before he is well enough.

It's good to hear He's given you peace. Youve' had some hard decisions to consider. For what it's worth, I think you definitely made the right decision. God will tell you when the time is right for his passing.

You are right. And they put pressure on for answers before they need to have answers. My feeling is that such questions can only be answered in the light of full knowledge of his condition, not as a "just in case". Unfortunately today he is not looking very well so I think there will be a lot more ups and downs before he recovers properly and fully. I have peace that I have made the right calls to this point, and his future is in God?s hands and in His time frame. Thank you for your lovely and valued support and prayers. This means a great deal.
