Thanks, Maria. I wish I played chess as well as I write poems.

An original and finely expressed take on the way of life! You've captured the intricacies involved in your neatly rhyming verse which I enjoyed reading. Also well illustrated. Thanks for sharing and good luck! Debbie

Thanks, Debbie. Chess is easy. Life is hard.

This is so true of most of our lives and is a good metaphor.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Good luck with the contest.
Have a good rest of the week.

Thanks, Joan. I just got back from northern Maine. The rest of the week doesn't stand a chance.

No problem, Paul.
Sounds like you had a good vacation.

As a struggling chess player myself, I can entirely relate to this poem. I like the simplicity and think the rhymes work well. I might make a few adjustments in wording.

Thanks for the review, Emily. I'll take a look at the wording.

Like in chess, we need to look to the next move and the next and pray we make the right move. Life's Divisions often have consequences just like in the game.
Well done.
Blessings

Thanks, Janet. I can usually look a few moves ahead in chess, but sometimes it's hard to look one move ahead in life.

That is definitely a true statement.

I had to give this six stars. You encapsulated life in these short lines. When we work it's always trying to make life choices and make it work with work choices. Sometimes the pawn must be sacrificed. Then you get to retirement age and the stress of life can, if you let it, go away. Very well done.

Thanks, Cathy. You have hit the nail on the head with your comment on life choices and work choices. I have probably made more than a few bad ones.

I love the game of chess and we can learn a lot about life with this game. We have to think of our forward moves before making a decision, what would be the consequences of our actions as we could lose our Queen! A fine post, much enjoyed, good luck with the contest, love Dolly x

A clever way to describe the choices and decisions we must make as we move through life. Hopefully there are enough good ones to move us towards a win. This is excellent writing.

Thanks, Ginda. Sometimes it's tough choosing the good ones.

As astute as your words could have been, the story as told reminds me of a game of darts wherein a dart was thrown but missed the bullseye. I suggest, with no ill intent intended, you massage this piece to a better end. The idea is brilliant but the entry has a lot of chop, as waves bouncing a skiff, for me.

This is a nicely written poem and does provide some insights into life using chess as a metaphor. The other thing chess requires is a strategy in the attempt to win. Combining the strategy and the right decisions determines the outcome. Well done. Terry.

Come on, Terry. You mean I've got to have a strategy, too?
LOL, only if you want to win!
