I'm sorry you're in pain. I think its wonderful that you chose to be positive, not let pain rule or ruin your life. I have chronic pain as well, from arthritis and two knees that are bone on bone. I'm sad to say that I don't handle it as well as you do, feeling quite sorry for myself at times. Your poem has encouraged me to look at things in a new light. Thanks for sharing your story in your notes.

Thanks for your kind comments, This is getting harder every year, but as the disease progresses I wonder from one day to the next how long I can keep doing and what would I do if I didn't have you. So thank you for your part in wanting me to keep going. Today is not an easy day, so thanks.

You are singing to the choir sister. I too gave up on RX pain meds. They take over your life. You can choose to be happy. You can fill your life with distractions that you can put between you and your pain. FanStory is a place we can go, where we don't have to dress up. We can exist here in this world where pain does not exist. I love my friends like you, and how I was excepted right away. We are blessed.

Thanks for your kind comments, Karen. This is getting harder every year, but as the disease progresses I wonder from one day to the next how long I can keep doing and what would I do if I didn't have all of you. So thank you for your part in wanting me to keep going.

This four-line poem, Pain, has the proper formatting and explains coping, though your notes open the subject up wide. Pain is so depressing and sometimes becomes the only constant. Glad you have found working alternatives to drugs.

With you explanation of your source of pain, I realize how hard it must be for you to see the rainbows. This is a lovely poem that can bring much hope to others who know pain.

I hear you! I have MS and for decades there was no pain i lost and regained eyesight which was hard but now for the past decades spasms bring pain I have to control. I also think of rainbows it's best to keep as positive as possible. It already tasks enough from you so don't let it take your hope and optimism I feel that too. Exceptional writing! Keep well!
Best wishes! Alexandra

Thanks for your kind comments, Alex. I do remember about your MS. This is getting harder every year, but as the disease progresses I wonder from one day to the next how long I can keep doing it and what would I do if I didn't have you guys? So thank you for your part in adding a little sunshine in my life.

Oh Alex, I also want to thank you for the honor of your six stars. They and you mean so much to me.

Lupus IS a very painful disease and I'm glad you chose the option to "write it out" rather than feel sorry for yourself. The Lord knows all our suffering, and also underwent suffering for us. Never give up!

This is a well written poem with great rhyming that conveys a positive approach to something that can be truly dreadful. It has the correct number of syllables per line for the contest and I love the last line.
Good luck with it

You did not write this for pity, nor did you write this to shame anyone who complains about their pain. I guess not to let your pain define you by living for your pain but live with a positive attitude to help with the pain.
Good luck in the contest.
Best regards,
Mary

You know Mary, I wish I had put it has graciously as you just did. Thank you for that, as that is it in a nutshell. I let them talk me into the opioids years ago, and it has every bit of strength to not go back to them. Even last year when I had both legs operated on so I could walk again, I did it all with no drugs. But to shame someone else for taking them would be such a Hypocrite. Thanks for your wise take on this and also for being such a good friend.

You are very corageous to go with out the strong pain medicine. I don't know what the lupus pain is like but any kind of pain is unpleasant to deal with but you are right. There are many things more natureal that stong medicine. Do without it if you can. I have many pains too but I want take pain medicine if anything else can make it bearable.

As much as I did not write this for pity, I also didn't write this to shame anyone who needs to use medication. I even took medical cannabis and that fogged my head too much. So however you handle your pain, is between you and your doctor. We all do what we must do. Thanks so much Beth.

I have a lot of arthritus pain but I never take anything, not even an asprin. I think pain medicine can't be good for you. and you'll get to where it doesn't work if you have to have it. I don't take any kind of medicine or see doctors over once a year, maybe.

That is awesome Beth. That is exactly why I don't anymore, because everything I took for so many years stopped working for me so now I try to use anything that is natural.. proud of you!!

Good luck wishes regarding the contest entry, Debi. The picture was great, I'd like to think of the rainbow rather than the rain. It is so horrible that you were struck with lupus all those years ago. Blessings n Hugs!!!

Thanks Ali, but I wonder what I would have done without all of you here. This is my happy place and what a thrill to divert my pain for a while.
Thanks for the very kind comments, my dear friend.
