Isn't it amazing what other parents think it okay? I've run into that often as a parent. I don't understand those parents at all. Thank you for sharing this with us.

She kept her head down to avoid eye contact with anyone and sat down quickly. (you can omit 'down')

Thank you Barbara. I wonder if he would have taken that chance with his own daughter. I can't imagine Christi saying, "I really wanted to hear my brothe sing."

Christi sounds like a young lady full of spunk and energy, and honestly, personality plus. I would have liked her and Don, but of course, it wouldn't have been good that we were friends. We would have kept each other in trouble. I'm the first grader who set trash containers on first all down the main hall, and cut about 60 snakes loose throughout the school. It just sounded like fun, but I can assure you neither trick ended up pleasant for me. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Ric. These two were my only pranksters. The youngest, Connie set the trash can on fire in the shool restroom and went ot assembly. She got suspended. You must have driven your mom crazy as well.

Oh, I was a nightmare. But I did grow up a little at about 47. LOL.

Well, this would put me off having children! Hard to tell what goes through the minds of teenagers - but I was still breaking College rules at seminary when I was 30 - except the pranks were far more sophisticated (worth a Ph.D. of anyone's money!)
You also had some whacky parents in this story - the dressing up as an old lady was in my kind of territory, so I was impressed with that - but that would have been the last straw if she was discovered. An Oscar for her performance though!
Eventually I get the picture! A bit slow today - but still awake enough to enjoy this part of your family drama.

Thank you Paul. Even if you don't have children, you have certinly been around a lot of them. I'd like to hear about those pranks worthy of a PH.D. I'm sure you life has been interesting.

The few I remember involved the Vatican and the theft of our college crest - that is worth a thousand words.
We had each year a Rag Week called WUS Week. that was officially the week of misrule. A group of us were infamous for clever plots - the one I can recall in less than half an hour is that we found a way on the first Monday of WUS week to turn all the College water supply bright pink. This worked well - but unfortunately one of the married students chose that morning to wash every single one of her husband's white shirts! We became anonymous very quickly!! The most magnificent Rag Week stunts were pulled by Sheffield University - see if you can find some stories on line. They are legendary - including one of thousands of urine samples! Enjoy!

I liked to pull pranks too so I can't blame my kids but as you say your were way more elaborate. You were likely someone's nightmare.

We corporately were icons for every wrong reason! But my favorite tutor, when himself a student there, smuggled a horse into an upstairs (tiny) students room. When they tried to get the horse out, it kicked the door down! Oh joy!

OMG! She really did put her 'life' in jeopardy, it could have meant the end of her dreams had she been expelled. Why do youngsters do silly things like that without thinking of the consequences? You must have been so angry! But, she was fine, even though that stupid father could have finished her chances by helping her disobey the rules. I guess even some adults never grow up! I enjoyed reading this chapter, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Thank you Sandra. I agree that some adults never seem to grow up. I not quite sure Christi ever did. LOL

That must have such a nerve-wracking time. That friend's father was worse than the kids. He could have cost Christi getting to walk for her diploma. Good that it all went well in the long run. Whew!

I was sure someone in authority would probably [find] out as well

Thank you Yvonne. Yes, I was shocked the girls father did that. Christi didn't have any problem going along with it. It really kept me from enjoying the program.

Another really great chapter here, Beth! Full of vivid descriptive detail, I practically hold my breath as the story unfolds. Such a roller-coaster for you too during these years! Nothing you could ever have done would have quelled Christi's actually quite wonderful (with hindsight) spirit of adventure! Edits: para starting I never learned (whose); para starting Finally it dawned - ...would probably (find) out. As ever, a well constructed and thoroughly absorbing chapter. Thanks for sharing, Debbie

Yes, I do remember this story and it's good that you kept it focused just on Christi in this retelling. I can't believe that friend's father risked even more punishment for her if she had been caught in her costume even though she was banned from campus. So glad the twins graduated!

Thank you, I don't know what the guy was thinking. I guess he didn't think it was fair she could see the preformance and he didn't respect the school rules but living just off campus, I think his wife might have been a teacher at the school. All the kids had been invited to their house often so I trusted them.

LOl. What a story! I do wish I had a six left for you, as although I can understand your feelings at the time, I found this to be incredibly funny, and can't stop laughing. And now I am wondering about Don's week with CiCi ....! Well written. Love it.

Thank you Wendy. It was funny in retrospect but it wasn't at the time for me. I was sure she was going to get caught and not graduate. CiCic mother left those kids alone a lot of them. I think Don was put into some situations he wasn't comfortable with.

You have reported more news of your three students in the last month than I can remember with my two four fours years. They should be glad, for making Dad mad has never been suggested.

Thank you Tom. I appreciate the review. I not sure I won't those years to get away from me. It's fun to remember what happened in the past years, for me anyway.

Being so close to the end of school, finals completed, I would have been shocked if she were expelled.

I'm not sure my wife (or me) would've allowed our daughter to stay at a friends house unless we knew or previously met the parents.

Well, it all worked out. Especially the old lady scam... nice job Christi.

Fine post.. John

Thank you John. I knew about the man but hadn't met him. The kids were often invited to their home for a meal. I think his wife was one of the teachers. I just surprised he would take a chance with gettting our daughter into more trouble.
