Gretchen, good morning.
To me, this is one of the best chapters of your novella to date. It partially continued the story, but truly set or established the admiration these two have for one and other.

Wonderful poem centering this chapter. So nicely done.

That was beautiful, Gretchen, you are an amazing poet as well. The story, wrapped neatly around the wonderful poem about Iris, was incredible. I would have tears rolling down my face mingled with the brightest smile had I been Iris.

I love this chapter, and I love his poem written so beautifully and from the heart for her. Jameson is really someone very special and he deserves someone better than Claire.
(Being an Aussie I don't understand "venmo" but I assume it is to transfer money into someone's bank account? We don't use that word here, so I have learned something new.)

Is this the first poem I've read by you? I do believe it is. You created some great visual images, especially "Blushing skies/like a nervous bride rising,"; and what was not for Iris to love? He created from his imagination an entire lifetime from child to mother with child. Lovely!

Isn't that something how an authentic review by someone who matters means so much more. I hadn't written a thing for years, and when I did, my mother was so happy and truly encouraged me. Every time I write now, even though she's gone more years than I would ever imagine living without her, she is with me every time I write. Some people's reactions just mean more than any other praise on earth. For my mother's wake, a beautiful poem wrote itself and I was able to find share it out loud for her. I think I like this chapter best of all - so far. Jameson is really a love - his friendship and special attention are just what Iris needs. That is a great allegorical poem.
