Earl.
This is a well written western. From the names of the characters, names of the town and the jargon spoken and written.

All were believable. Is this your first attempt at a western?

Kifely tone,
John

This is fantastic, Earl! You know I love your western stories. I didn't see any errors, but my eyes are giving up on me. It's tasking to write my own stuff.

You best be wearing a blue ribbon for this one! A mighty fine entry once again.

Sending you my best today as always.

Hey, this is good! You write well and if this is your chosen genre, then go for it. I didn't see any errors at all. Your story was well put together and had the appropriate sting in its tale. All the best - let's see more! Julie L

Good luck wishes regarding the contest entry, Earl. This was amazing. The picture was amazing. Wiley took the way of having his boots on at the time of his death. He made sure that John S. "Shotgun" Harker and Tom did just that. Meanwhile he was true to the point, he told the Puma Creek Kid, he told him that he wouldn't fire a shot. Too bad for the kid. Blessings n Hugs!!!

This is a very good western story for the contest, and I wish you the very best in the contest. I enjoyed listening to it as the iPad read it to me. Patricia

I love authentic dialogue. Great work.
When did he empty his gun? Why did the sheriff even look? Curious.
I wonder how well a five foot four kid could operate the hammer of a Colt .45. (Oh, you should capitalize 'Colt") Maybe if he was a 98 pound five foot eight kid?
Good luck in the contest.

Nicely presentand informative why wiley git himself killed, he didn't want to go through the oaun and shiny the can't was going to finish him off, he'd rather go out with his bits on, a smart man as they say he killed two birds with one stone getting even with the blustering loud mouth kid.

No truer words. I am prone to remember he that lived by the gun will die by the gun. Amazing how all that works. Good one, Earl. Thanks for sharing your old west story.

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I enjoyed reading and wish you the best of luck with the contest.

Harker stood at the stonecutters shop and handed him the note tom had given him after Wiley's death. (Tom???)
