Silly old Gertrude, trouble is, young men aren't remotely interested in elderly women, unless they are completely deranged, but Gertrude is a friend who will stick, not get carried away...I think! Beautifully written, blessings Roy

Gertrude really doesn't know Iris very well if she believes those rumours, and silly spectators exaggerate what they see and like to put ridiculous meanings into their twisted interpretation of events. When Gertrude finds out that Iris is leaving her home to Jameson she will assume the worst. Very well written, authentic.

It's a very good short one. She was right not to expect much help from Gert. Her "friend" was willing to believe gossip and did not shut the gossiper down. Jamison is a blessing in her life.

In any case, she was rude and intensive. I was afraid Iris was going to have a heart attack. Gossip can be painful. I try to stay away from gossipers. I can see how someone would misinterpret Iris and Jameson's friendship but only the people who don't matter.
Where are Iris family members? I don't think they are good to her.

Gertrude has been in a couple of chapters. Iris is alone. She mentioned some nieces and nephews who only send a card at Christmas. Thanks foe this. Gretchen

Iris and her friend Gert have a good solid friendship and are able to sort out their differences without it affecting their future. People do gossip and love to make things up and they are also envious of others who make a connection with each other. My town is not as intimate as this and most things go unnoticed. I truly enjoyed reading this. My husband is younger than me by almost 8 years. It's different when women are older even by a day yet men marry much younger women and no one says a thing. Even in my family men were ten years older than wives And that was normal yet if a woman marries a younger man shes bad. The rest of your chapter was fun and interesting too.
