... and the sage continues about Beth and Evan. Did you keep a paper journal or is your joural, mental memories? Flying always excited me as a lad but once I grew over 240 pounds, flying is a lesser joy.

Thank you Tom, it is all from memory at that my point in my life. The younger you are the sharper those memories are. I kept a journal a few years after I moved to Chattanooga, but that was a way off at this stage.

"Violated and vulnerable" are the two perfect words for this situation. I've been there, and it really does rattle you.

When someone cares so much for your children that they would do something like Diane did, then you know they are truly your friend.

I like that the children are growing up with your story, and I enjoyed reading about your fear of flying, as I have the same problem.

My only suggestion is that the crimes you open the chapter with don't seem to have anything to do with the rest of the narrative. It seems a little out of place.

Thanks for sharing.

Pam

Thank you Pam. Yes, I realize the part about theives wasn't connected. That is way I put in a break. I wanted to keep things together that happened around same time. I appreciate your comments.

Your descriptive detail is so good, Beth! You always manage to build interest and suspense and have such a clarity of style. Regrettably I have no 6s but this is definitely worthy of one. Could I ask do you write from memory or did you write a diary at the time? Excellent! Debbie

Thank you Debbie. I do have a good memory of things that happened a long time ago. I probably can't remembet more recent things as clearly. I didn't have anything written down.

Beth,
I enjoyed your various stories of certain events in your life. Diane sounds as though Diane was a very good friend. In the 70's and 80's there were numerous plane crashes around the world. It seems as though there are very few during the present times. Being in the army, I was destined to fly a lot. I never got over my fear of flying. My two army captain bosses were from New Orleans and Arkansas.
Nice stories, Beth.
Good luck.
Blessings,
Cindy

Thank you Cindy, I'm glad you are reading my stories. It must have been aweful to have to do all that flying and being uneasy the whole time. I've flown to Europe and back four times. I had to try hard not to think about it.

I am sorry to hear that your van was the subject of a theft, what a shock to wake up and not be able to drive it because parts had been removed. The caps covering my wing indicators were stolen because these parts are impossible to obtain in the Canaries. Now the bulbs are exposed.

Shame that those children did not turn up for Connie's party on time, I might have been inclined to tell them that the party was over and they were all too late!

I am always surprised at your posts about your family Beth, how do you remember all the small details? My memory is not so clear and my girls had birthday parties every year.

A fun-filled post Beth, I was entertained, I hope you got the van fixed, love Dolly x

Thank you Dolly, We did get the van fixed. I don't remember if our insurance covered the thief or not. I'm glad you find my stories entertaining.

What a scary plane ride! I also feel sorry for your losing car parts. It happened to us once when our Toyota Highlander lost its right mirror. My husband insists on the body shop people stole it because they needed one for their customer and our car just was there.

Well done.

Thank for the review. Someone stole part of the mirror on my Toyota Cambry from the parking lot. People seem to think they free to take what they wart.

Change is good, no?

Everyone grows. Everyone becomes a better person. At least that's how it should be.

Your van was actually lifter and parts stolen? Yikes. That's crazy.

Beth another good chapter for your book of memories.

Cheers for the memories...
John

Thank you John. Yes most of the time change represents growth; The thieves made off with some expensive parts to the van. After that we left a porch light on at night so anyone passing might see them.

This is a delightful story that you told me about your family in 1979. It seems to sell. Connie had a very nice birthday after all and you were able to make the flight without incident as well. Those are all good thanks I appreciate you writing your story of your family and I love hearing your story. Patricia.

Dianne is a gem! How sweet of her to quickly get more children for Connie's party!
I agree with you that kind of flight would be nerve-wracking! Glad you got back safely.
That must have been such a different home environment for all of you. But I know your kids all came back especially the twins!

Thank you for the excellent review and comments. Yes, Dianne is a keeper. She is the only one from New Orleans that I'm still in contact with.

Those are big changes for the whole family and it must have taken each of you a while to adjust, in various ways. Interesting, clear and enjoyable writing.

Thank you for the great review. I meant to look up how she spells her name. I have two friends named Diane and their names aren't spelled alike. I think I may have chosen the wrong one, but at least they're all alike now.
