A very sad episode this work. I think when an era is coming to an end, as in Jamison's life it becomes very sad indeed, I could feel the reflective nature of this post and felt it's sadness, and sensed it with you too Gretchen, well dine, blessings Roy
Typo : we head back (him) Home?

Your story confirms a few facts here Gretchen, Iris is terminally ill and the relationship Jameson has with Claire is truly over. We know more or less what the future holds, and it is look rather bleak. You handled it all so cleverly here.

You have a gremlin here Gretchen:
A little sand on the derri¨re never killed anyone."

Much enjoyed, well written as always, love Dolly x

I am very invested in this story. Thank you for sharing it with us.

"Iris, how can you smell water but you can't smell when the roast is burning?". She smiles broadly. An errant breeze lifts her silver hair (comma needed after 'water' misplaced period instead of before 'She' maybe it belongs after 'hair.)

Once he's finished, I walk him a couple of blocks then we head back him. (him??? maybe 'in.')

Iris and Jamison seem to think alike, and it was wonderful that he was confident in assuring her there is a heaven. Jamison is fortunate to have Heston so he is not alone. Good choice to give him a pet. You have a few problems: Para 4 (with out) . . . sand on the ( spag) . . . then we head back (home). I am really enjoying this story.

The aftermath of the doctor's appointment and Jameson, though shocked by the news, handles the situation sensitively and takes iris to see the ocean. Those remarks by Iris about the sea are beautiful and so fitting for this elderly lady we've come to love. In her own way, she's preparing herself for the inevitable. A contrast to this poignant scene as Jameson returns home to an unwelcome sight of emptiness. There are 2 minor edits: para starting Her full weight lean.... without(one word) and para starting It takes a few minutes....Derriere has a few gremlins to contend with. Thanks for sharing, Gretchen, this, as ever, lovely story of yours. Debbie

Good stuff still. Enjoying this so much. Every bit, even the lazy bits sitting at home and vegging out, add to our knowledge of the characters. Keep going!

Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy sound like a good way to spend an early evening, like I did for years. But what are we going to do now that Alex Trebek has passed and Pat Sajak is giving up the ship. Thanks for sharing.

We still have Steve Harvey ... or is he gone, too? Lol. Thanks for this. Gretchen

You mean, Steve Harvey, the legend in his own mind. Who wears $5,000 and $10,000 suits, most of the time hemmed ankle high, people raving about what a great dresser he is, showing how little they know about style. :-)

Clair is a fool. She is losing a good man. Not a whole lot of them out there as you age. He is certainly a God send for Iris. I can sympathize with her. I am in the same boat only older. LOL I have a congestive heart and a DNA on my chart. The only difference... I have family who care about me and that is a big difference. Well done Gretchen. Well done. Nancy:)

I'm so glad Jameson is moving on from Claire, and that he has Iris in his life now, albeit for a short time maybe. That will be a blow to him when he loses her.

This was a bittersweet chapter, Gretchen. Very sad as they walk away from the doctors, with that hug. Just having Jameson to hold onto helped Iris become Iris again. Then the lovely moments by the sea. Calming and comforting. This must have been hard to write because you have it so right. I don't think Iris has much longer, which will devastate Jameson, they have become so close. But the hurt doesn't stop coming for him he still has the divorce to go through. Well done, my friend. Another sad but lovely chapter. Lots of hugs, Sandra xx

I'm remembering moments when my mother was losing her battle to pulmonary fibrosis. Each symptom worse than the last. The DNR, that was a hard pill to swallow. Thank you so much for this. Gretchen

I didn't like to ask, but it did come across as if you knew what you were writing about. I've been through it too. It was very well done, Gretchen. xx
