Yes, graduations are long and tedious, but you didn't mention dance recitals. Did any of your girls dance? My husband and I used to duck out of the auditorium where my daughter's recitals were held, grab a pizza and a beer nearby, then sneak back in and act as if we had never left.

Your kids led busy lives, and so did you because of them! It's interesting for me to read about what other families did and how they coped. We're not that different:-)

Thank you Pam. I think a lot of people relate to at least some parts of this, and I only hope they aren't bored by it. I've been to a few dance recitals for my granddaughters. My daughters were in piano recitals which are equally long a boring. I've been in a few of those myself and you're not really bored until your time on the stage is over. You're too busy trying to keep from passing out. LOL You always imagine you going forget everything or trip on your out.

This was so fun to read --like a Christmas letter from a friend I don't get to spend time with during the year. Very chatty and newsy and delightful!

A couple little spags:
* the sport is spelled "Rappeling"
* in the paragraph that begins "Other sports involving snow would..." I think you left off the next word: BE
* finally, even though you and I know this is wrong, the correct spelling is: Krispy Kreme

Wow, y our kids are spreading their wings already and each of them is trying to find their identity and life calling:) Don't take it to heart, I played the game of denying my mom when I wanted to hurt her. I know is silly ND also played the adopted child card, when I was not in that situation. Go figure.

Thank you Iza. I was a little hurt when Connie was claiming others than me was her mother. Thankfully she outgrew but it took a while.

Another good one, Beth. Amazing how our kids can develop into good citizens and productive adults. I had a son who was good in art and well-liked during school. He died at an early age as a Graphic Artist, Much of the Casino in Reno NV. still use his work.

Life does seem to be turning out well for Don. I felt for poor Carol with so many traumas to face at a young age. Very well written and most interesting.

Thank you Wendy. Carol was shaken badly by some of those things which happened when she was a teen. She is a practical person though and she let them go.

Sounds like everything was going well with their school experiences. As you said, no emergency visits for Don. Yes, I think we all hate those graduation ceremonies, especially because they're soooo long. Thankfully, when my boys graduated, the classes weren't enormous like they are today.

Thanks for the review. Until we got to New Orleans, I didn't mind high school graduations. My college graduation in Mississippi went on forever though.

Awkward wording: Some of the sports kids in north Arkansas participated in were new to Don.
I would suggest: The teens in north Arkansas participated in sports unknown to Don.

An interesting read but I think this would benefit with editing. For example:

There were other winter sports that would be involved later as snow was common in that part of the country. Those were just the kinds of things...
Delete 'There were' and 'those were' Reword:
Other winter sports involving snow would be involved later. The mother of an accident prone son doesn't want to hear that.

Thank you for the review and suggestions. I did do some rewording as you suggested. I guess I was trying to add words when the rules to good writing suggest eliminating them.

Quite the saga from
Birth to graduating. I wonder how a mama bird feels the first flap
Of a babies wing going airborne. Experience taught me not all were successful for how many tweets did we see on the ground peeping for rescue from mom. Never did see if and how she got them back in the nest or how she got them to fly.

Thank Tom. I think one the baby bird is on the ground they get some intense flying lessons. Duckscan swim the as soon as they hatch. I saw one come our of the shell, fall in water an swim away.

It is fun watching your children grow up Beth and as you say you have to let go and let them spread their wings. My youngest daughter suddenly start using her middle name, Kim as she thought it was more modern and I didn't mind, she was feeling her feet. She uses her first name now without a problem and she is proud of it. I enjoyed reading your friendly and informative post about your kids and their school days, love Dolly x x x

Thank you Dolly, I appreciate your review and support. Carol's middle name is Kay. When she was little we call her KayKay.

All of my girls graduated in four different years. The first daughter graduated in 1979. The second daughter graduated in 1981 in the third daughter graduated in 1982. So I know how busy those days work for you. I enjoyed your story about your children and their growing up years. Patricia.

Thank you Patricia. I think it was my twins who graduated in 1979. Since Connie was ten years behind them I guess it would be 1989 for her.
