This is wonderfully and sensitively written, every word assiduously chosen to convey the hesitancy and reluctance of this break-up and the contrasting delight and freedom of being with Fin. Gretchen, if I had a six you'd have it...even without my friend, Iris, in the picture. Take care Debbie

Gretchen
A short chapter which detailed what it needed to quickly as this is the secondary story of your novella. Now back to Iris and Jameson.

I'm glad there was no real fighting between those two, which would cause Fin uncertainty.

Good work.

They both have Fin's best interest at heart deep down. Thank you for this. Gretchen

"We ended it the same way it began, with a kiss.
Now, that's irony for you." You caught the human, messy element, in their relationship and conveyed all the shades of gray, including Fin's confused relationship with his mother. This is far and away your best chapter about their breakup.

What a gentleman Jameson is. One day, Claire's going to realize what she lost. He handled this day very well. I hope she doesn't do anything to drag out the proceedings.

Hopefully, but doubt he will ever know she thinks she made a mistake. Lol. Gretchen

very realistic. good details and dialogue. I like that he says it like it is and doesn't backtrack. Though he does say he loves her, he realizes it was misplaced. It's a sad thing for Finny, though. very good. I do like the way you are with your characters!!

This is very sad Gretchen and Claire has never opened up and told Jameson why she left him and we are still in the dark as to the reasons why? Maybe she has someone else? Claire seems to feel a great deal of bitterness whereas Jameson has come to terms with his situation as it was never of his choosing. It is good they are not arguing over Fin as he needs both parents as you say. A realistic and sad part of the story so far Gretchen, love Dolly x x x

Thank you very much. Don't normally like sad but both Jameson and Iris are in dire straits. Once this and Terry Joe are done, Miranda, pt. 2 is waiting. Thank you for this. Gretchen

So pleased that Jameson is standing up to Claire. He deserves better. Maybe one day she will realise his worth as a man, and will regret her self-centredness, treating him like a thing to be used until she tires of him. Good writing.

It's a short chapter. We do get a little look into Jameson's marriage or impending divorce, enough to understand it's complicated. I wanted more but then reminded myself the story isn't about Jameson and Claire's relationship.

Notes:

She was never a fan of

Thank you. I'm trying to focus less on the marriage imploding and more on his transformation. Thanks for your detailed review. Much appreciated. Also for catching that spag. Gretchen

Boy, has Jameson come a LOOOOOONG freakin way!! I'm so proud of him for taking the reigns away from Claire. (She was so inept with them...) I also loved the tableau of Jameson and Finny. He just loves that boy and doesn't worry about the rest of the picture, and that's the ultimate freedom.

REALLY beautifully done, (again) Gretchen.

Remember when you told me on Monday that I should post everything on Sunday? Ditto right back to you, Missy. I have no sixes for you at this late point of the week, and this super chapter deserves one.

xoxoxo

I will post something on Sunday. Doing two books at one time, exhausting. I do not recommend it. Might take a couple of days off so ... Thanks for this awesome and detailed review. Gretchen

How many Jewish mommies does it take to change a lightbulb?

Nevuh mind; I'll sit here in the dark....
