Love this as eagles are amazing hunters and their eyesight is amazing, their prey does not stand a chance if seen by this magnificent bird, a fine 5-7-5 for the contest, love Dolly x x x

Powerful contrast in this with a gold sunset and a majestic bird that kills! Alliteration with gold, glide, and grace. The hard k sound at the end. Good luck in the entry.

A very evocative 5-7-5 verse! The image is powerful with your poem skilfully capturing all the potency and majesty of the eagle. Stunning! Well done and good luck! Debbie

Ciao poet !

Love the eye-catching artwork you chose.

that is how life goes in the wild .. it's a useful death..it will feed those hungry eaglets.

I have been following on live cam the life of Jackie and Shadow : two bald eagles that live in California. Last year they had one eaglet, Stormy.

It was exciting to watch it grow and to see how dedicated the parents were.

This year Jackie laid two eggs in January but nothing came of them.

Thanks for the review. I believe I read a narrative about that. Did you write on it?

I love that you show the beauty, the majesty of both the day and the bird, before the bird swoops in for the kill. I e joyed the dramatic finish in your 5-7-5 poem. Good luck in the contest. Cheers

Interesting. That last sentences was quite the punchline. I thought we were going for regal grace and crash, bang, boom, we were in the kill zone.

Nicely done. I enjoyed this peek into your fantastic brain!

The eagle (right?) has always been such a majestic bird. Wonderful topic. Loved the picture you chose. The only thing I would have done differently is to use another word besides languorous. Barbara H.

    Barbara,
You are a fairy, really. You are right about the languorous, I needed to change it, but to what??? Then, like a magic wand, I re-read your comment and found the right word: majestic!!!!
Thank you so much! I just changed it!! You think majestic would be better?

Watching birds as they hunt is like watching ballet. Even knowing they are predators, their movements are so sleek and refined. They move in with careful grace and speed. Your poem was beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Gretchen
