Be grateful!
The person who loves to lament their little inconveniences ought to consider those who having it far, far worse, find something to be grateful for.
Well done.

Wendy, I have seen so much tragedy in this world that I have made it a point to treat others with a supporting demeanor. Not a silly 'have a nice day' comment but with real interest. It doesn't always lift someone's mood but it's always worth the effort.

This short dialogue only story has a phenomenal message. I'm struggling with health issues, but I don't have cancer or a terminal illness. Your well written story and author's notes are inspiring and have lifted my spirits. Best wishes in the contest.

I'm confused as to who said "You have many days before you." at the end. Is this the doctor still speaking? If so, a new paragraph isn't needed. But if you want a new paragraph, don't use the close quotes just before.
Otherwise, it's a good story entirely told in dialogue. And it's true we need to remember that we are are terminal.
Best wishes in the contest!

I like the message you are sending out to be grateful for the blessings that you have. However, I didn't feel a connection to the story. The conversation lost me a bit and I had to reread the story to understand.

All the best, Yard.

The story is good but a little confusing. The going back and forth between the bad and good news can be clarified. The dialogue could be improved. The characters seem real. Good luck in the contest.

Comment from Ben Colder
Faith in the one who created you will void the words of doubt. God's promises supersede what any doctor thinks or says. Open you Bible and learn of God's promises and accept them into your life. It works better than hope.

Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Thank you, Mister Colder. It is a blessing to hear from a man of God. All the best, Yard

Such poignancy expressed so succinctly, this story captures very successfully this thin line we all walk between good health and disease etc. It's a very emotive story that you tell so skilfully. Good luck! Debbie

A moving and thought-provoking, heartening piece. My hopes go out to you, if this is autobiographical, for many happy years of life. Thank you for sharing this.

Much appreciated, JS. I plan to stay around long enough to get an 'A' in punctuation before I go to heaven.

We don't know how lucky we are to be healthy and if I could wish for anything in life, health would be number one pick. So many suffer painful horrendous deaths. A poignant write, love Dolly x

Thanks Dolly. You are so right. Waking with ones loved one to greet a new day with a healthy mind and body is the ultimate wealth. Second to that, is helping one's loved one face the inevitable with love, compassion and patience. Yard.
