Here you go with another SIX! Tomorrow they all come back, again, I think. Thanks for Iris's reminiscences. Could not find a spag, anywhere! Well done.

A memory re-lived here in your gentle write about reminiscing a loved one and how they enjoyed breakfast together. We learn about Iris who is a strong and determined woman with a good heart, much enjoyed Gretchen, love Dolly x

Thank you. My mom once told me some days she devoted to my dad who passed. I felt bad for her until I realized it kept him with her when she needed it most. Thank you. Gretchen

As we age we do more looking back at our lives when we were happy and secure. All those happy days that ended all too soon. Iris was having one of those days, looking back, missing her family. Well done Gretchen. Nancy:)

Thanks so much. I'm glad you are enjoying this. And yes, my mom used to have a "date" with my deceased dad. Fix his favorite meal, have a glass of wine and watch a movie they used to enjoy. It made her feel close to him when she needed it. Gretchen

Sundays are hard for Iris. Too bad Jameson is busy. She could use some company today. I love the egg situation. It's just what happens when one is preparing a meal and everyone wants to get a bite early.

Oh yes, I'm sorry you've lost your partner in life, I'm the fortunate one here, I've the best wife, but it would be so lonely on my own, oh, I have great friends, but where would we go, our best friends are minus one with the death of Steve, but we still see Liz for tea every Friday, we are so fortunate. But you should go to church, not because of any other reason but company...and friends. The cross's vertical beam has a horizontal one too, where Jesus spread His arms. Bless you Gretchen, Roy

This is all fiction. I still have my husband. This was just a chapter in Coffee With Iris. Thanks for this. Gretchen
Comment from Wendy G
A delightful chapter, clear and insightful, as we get to know Iris better. It's those little memories, those personal quirks of Lou, which show how extremely lonely she is, and her fatigue shows her poor state of health.
I am enjoying reading about these people, even when there is no dramatic action.

A poignant write here as Iris recounts her Sundays spent with Lou. Her memories of tiny details and even the dialogue that took place make this all the more heart-breaking. I wondered, Gretchen, if 'omelette' (french spelling) should be spelt like this or is your version acceptable? Thanks for sharing this well expressed and enjoyable story. Debbie
