Wow! You were having a tough time there for a while weren't you. I can believe your reaction in both situations. You were lucky to have survived the pool. Good job, Beth. Nancy:)

Thank you Nancy. Yes, that pool thing was dangerous. I'm surprised my daughter noticed what was happening and yelled and I'm also surprised he paid any attention to her.

Oh my goodness. Electrocuted pastors. Children in peril and drowning in the pool. You have certainly lived. Amazing. Enjoying these little vignettes.

That electrocution is no less than bizarre. If one saw that in a movie, they'd shake their head and say it wasn't possible.

I had a near panic attack reading about your panic attack! As a mother, I know how you felt in those moments.

Thanks for sharing, Beth.

What a story! Unfortunately I have no sixes left. Your story was well written and included both drama and humour. The fact that you are still alive to write the story is a relief!! It is a wonder the building passed inspection with a not very high rail and gaps being too wide between the posts. Well done.

Thank you Wendy. I appreciate the review and great comments. Maybe the railing wasn't as I thought it was but I'd just heard of boy falling from the Leaning Tower of Pisa. I'm not sure any of them can guarantee a kid won't try to climb and lose their balance. I think the building usually had a guard at the top to make sure people were careful.

We've had those early moments before our kids learn to swim, so we know they aren't safe until they, but fortunately Elaine and I swim alright. But we made sure our girls were taught to swim well, and now the grands, we're surrounded by water, so it's a must here, beautifully written Beth, blessings Roy
Typo: So I begin taking him. Began? 2: He (begin) treating me...began?

Thank you for the review and comments. I fixed the begans. I swim much better now but I'm still not sure I could handle someone on my back.

WOW! What a time to remember. I became scared for you as I read on while you were pounding on the door with your high hills. So glad wisdom came to Carol. Good one, Beth.

Thank you for the nice review. Much of what we worry about never comes to pass. I'm still concerned when one of children is sick but I don't do a lot of worrying any more.

I remember reading of these two harrowing experiences from your other posts. How scary! I can imagine being just as worried when you were locked in and didn't know if Don was safe. Also, I had a similar experience when a younger, much bigger kid wanted a ride on my back in the pool. I thought I was going to drown! She wasn't that buoyant!!
Enjoyed your post!

Thank you, Helen I keep writing about the same things but many since writing them years apart they aren't exactly the same. They swimming pool thing could have ended badly because there were no adults around and I surprised Christi noticed I was in trouble.

Another fascinating story with some really tense moments skilfully described and that dreadful death beforehand. That said, you were definitely getting immersed in the area ...as well as in the pool at the end! Some small edits - para starting "We still had many..." - began not begin; para starting "I glanced..." - began; also when referring to yourself banging on the door it might be better to say "as it was thick" rather than "but being thick" for the reader to know exactly what the subject is that is thick; in the last para - "used" instead of "use" All in all an enjoyable read, Beth. Whew. Those are two near gruesome experiences. Life would have been real different if either came to pass and I could see the family returning to Mississippi quickly had we experienced such.

How awful for the Pastor who was instantly electrocuted! What a tragic scene this must have been.

Oh my goodness how awful that you almost drowned here and it is easily done when everyone thinks you're having fun. This is what I hate about pool parties where everyone jumps in the pool when they have been drinking, it is dangerous.

More stories from your past here Beth, glad you survived. Love Dolly x x x

Thank you Dolly. I appreciate your nice review and comments. That was really frighting for me when I thought I was going to drown. There were no adults around and I know the children wouldn't have know what to do.
