Do you know I actually have a lump in my throat from this chapter?!!! It rings so true, the dialogue - simple and honest and it goes right to the heart. You are a good writer!! BUT - I wanted the chapter to go on, so...
hopefully, you've written the next chapter. :) Onward and upward.

Will be posting one tonight. And thank you. This is what I love to hear. My goal is to make the reader care about my characters as much as I do. So thank you for this delightful review. I really appreciate it. Gretchen

They both have a lot of pain, and between them, I'm sure they will be able to help each other. Just because it's 35 years ago, doesn't mean the pain goes away. But for Jameson, he's worried about not seeing his son. That is the worse part of parents splitting. I hope that can be resolved. I'm glad Iris wants to read his story. My family are the same, none of them have read my books, only my husband. This is a sad story, Gretchen, but I'm hoping there will be a happy ending for both of them. :)) Sandra xx

My extended family doesn't read my stuff. Only my husband and a couple of my kids. But it is what it is. Lol. Sometimes people just need someone who will listen. Thanks, Sandra. Gretchen

Jameson and Iris need each other. I have a feeling Bryon is right about the sisters. I am enjoying reading this story.

He chews and then starts talking. "That's kind of how it was with Mandy and me. (comma after 'talking')

"I don't get it." I mutter. (comma after 'it')

"You didn't have to."I say, but I'm thankful she did. (comma after 'to' and space after the comma)

I'm not sure how many of these I missed, but I don't feel lost at all as they all read as individual pieces! I see you have a second post and I'm heading over to read! Best, JohnC

Once my funny money is gone, my posting will ease off. Lol. I'm like a kid in a candy store right now. Thanks for your awesome feedback. Gretchen

Great chapter and looks like I still have sixes. I am enjoying this story, immensely. I could not find any spags, this time around. Keep it all coming. Can't wait for more of this and your other writings.

Beautiful. Like watching a series on tv, I'm getting to know your interesting odd couple and want to know what their lives hold together. Some excellent dialogue here.

Good chapter on vulnerability and comfort becoming more solidified between these two.

I must've missed the fact that Claire actually moved out. I thought she left kind of on a temp basis to figure things out. (Bad on my part).

This is progressing nicely. Good that you brought the ex brother-in-law in for more story line.

Cheers...

John

He kind of left that out when he first met Iris. He mentioned it in his inner narrative though. He is just now realizing he can talk freely to Iris. Thanks for this.. gretchen

What a perfect pairing of two like-minded people. They need each other, and I'll be good for each other. Enjoying their story. Age is irrelevant when there is a connection. Well done. Looking forward to more, as usual.

This couple reminds me a bit of the movie, "Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont." I love that this friendship with a vast age difference has bonded. It's good for both of them.

This was such a fun story to write. Very different people at opposite phases of life, yet they need each other. I'm glad you are enjoying it. Gretchen

Great read! I really enjoyed it!

A couple of fixes:

"I don't get it." I mutter.
(Comma instead of period after 'it' as mutter is a speech tag)

"You didn't have to."I say, but I'm thankful she did.
(same thing with the period to comma as 'say' is a speech tag. Also you need a space after second ")

I laughed hard after this brilliant sentence:

Bryon wipes his fingers on his jeans. "Both of those girls are just like their mother. That woman has had more husbands than the Duggars have kids."

Great job. You are doing good with this book!
