Hi Debi,
I just read one of Sally's circus poems and I can see how this came from that. Both are whimsical in feel. Are the couplets the downward movement and the quatrains the upward move?
Keep writing and stay healthy.

But that's the beauty of it , and how it should. We can all have our own interpretation of the same thing. And here goes just to show that. I loved your poem and I'm sure Sally does as well..Ulla:)))

Well, the generational apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Kenzie is an excellent artist, and you are a superb poetess.
Your work is always uplifting and inspirational, spiritually as well as creatively. I love the Merry-Go-Rhyme style, Debi! Well done! Best, JohnC

Thanks for the explanation, Debi. I'll have to check out Sally a little closer. This Merry-go-Rhyme style fits your personality perfectly. Keep 'em coming.

This is a lovely telling of how your merry-go-round style came into being. I have had a try but couldn't get the right rhythm, but then, I love free verse and have to work hard at rhyme. I shall check out Sally's style too. Nicely explained Debi,
cheers,
valda

Your granddaughter is very talented! Congratulations to her. I also enjoyed reading about the birth of your special kind of poem. And as you say they are positive and fun. Light in tone with a carnival style feel!
Well done.

lovely art work by your grand daughter!
I enjoyed reading this merry go round origin. They are very ice to read aloud/
I am amazed hoe you and Helen are able to rhyme with ease .I struggle to to find rhymes
I am most comfortable with free verse. but sometime internal rhymes do creep in unexpectedly...

Hi Santha, I am so very sorry this is so late. I wish we could choose which poems we want to keep on front page so they don't accidentally get lost in the shuffle. I do read them all as they come in, but don't get to answer right away. But I hope you know how very much I appreciate this lovely review and kind words with the awesome extra helping of stars. Thank you with all my heart dear friend.

This is lovely, Debi, and I adore the term Merry-go-Rhyme. Your poem has a bouncy quality that fits well with the idea of having fun, and finding the bright side. Your excellent rhyme choices prove your comments about your being a rhyming poet. I'm one too, so I can definitely understand your feelings. I enjoyed the way you used the carousel as the perfect metaphor for the circle of life.

First of all, Kenzie is one talented young lady.
Thank you for sharing the history of this poetic form. I should have guessed that the amazing Sally Law was responsible for its origin.
You have written a delightful Merry-go- round poem Debi. I enjoyed each line and rhyme. I too prefer rhyme but branch out from time to time.
I love carousels as well. I have a friend back in PA who especially loved carousel horses and started collecting them. Then her husband found a vintage carousel, bought and restored it. Then he build a barn behind their house to store it. It is fully functional and now people bring their children and grandchildren to ride the merry-go-round in the barn.

Blessings and happy Mothers Day.
Janet

Hi Janet, I apologize for this being so late. My eye specialist has restricted my time on my ipad until next months surgeries. I do read them all as they come in and although I am late, I do keep plucking away at them. But I wanted to make sure you knew how much your awesome review means to me. Thank you so much for your very kind words for my poem and your gracious gift of six stars. They are so appreciated, my dear friend!

Good luck with your surgeries Debi. You are in my prayers. My husband has his heart valve replacement on May 31st so we are aware of the health struggles for upcoming surgeries. Take care and get better soon.
