A fine entry for the NaPoWriMo challenge.

Being old is good, it means we are alive. I just want to stay as healthy as possible.

Good rhyme and meter that doesn't sound forced. Nice presentation and imagery. Good luck in the contest.

I remember saying just a few weeks ago, there's nothing better as a good example to the young, is once you've found a good road to travel, keep going, though there be potholes, snares and traps, persistence is the best example to others. But it must have love at its core, beautifully written again Jim, blessings Roy

My friend my body. Has gotten much stronger in the past five years. Part of the reason is stronger is because I have lost 115 pounds. I also walked over 3 miles a day I eat and drink as I should. It has been good to get my body back in shape after so many years of feeling just totally worn out. Patricia, I enjoyed your poem very much. It speaks to me as an old person.

Patricia, what a tremendous and wonderful feeling of freedom you have worked so hard to attain. I have struggles with physical weight issues my whole life. Every one of my parents and siblings have already died far too young due to bad hearts resulting from obesity complications. I am a hard core intermittent faster 19-20 hours between meals each day and largely vegan. My sincere CONGRATULATIONS.... Jim

Not sure who your great friend is here Jim but you pay a fine tribute to him. He sounds strong and forthright, and supportive too, a fine post for the April challenge, love Dolly x

The things we have subjected our bodies to. The things our mind and body have endured. The things our eyes have viewed. How many times has my body violently rejected the horrible poisons I have imbibed in search of God knows what. We owe our bodies so many apologies. If you are listening, I am sorry.

This is a fun tribute to old age. I know of what you speak . . . well. I laughed at the one cup of coffee in the morning. Yep - know that, too. I understand tired and rusted, too. Good job!

I really like your imagery and use of poetic words. It fits this poem very well and the image also captures the poem. Good luck in the contest. Hope all is well. Have a good day!

Quite interesting poem in the sense that the depicted friend is oneself. I like the pace and the rhyming pattern. There are a few 'iambic' meters in there, and a syllable over the pentameter in one instance. But overall I really enjoyed it!!

Yes, it is for sure. The measure of time for the old, like me. Sounds like my daily actions. Tired, yes, at 85 but getting there. Nothing wrong with this write. Describes me very well. LOL.

Though the entire piece is good my favorite is stanza two as I understand it by living it. Well done.
What a great friend. Nighttime, daytime; Trusted
Sometimes dented, broken, ailing, just tired.
Clearly treasured, like old cars, but rusted.
Wintry morns bring warnings; old bones retired.
