This is a wonderful entry in the contest, Lea. What a frightening story about you and your family, exemplifying a parent's worse fear. Glad it had a happy ending.
This is very well-written with great rhyme and quite good meter, although an occasional word here and there disrupts it a little. I loved your personification of the river with its grinning water spying a meal and its fluidic and muscled arm grabbing your child.

that is quite the journey within the poem. good work as always. the graphic used is very appropriate as it provides a view from below looking up, just as if the boy was searching his return. well done

For me the flow was good until the end when I was tripped up a bit. My sons loved fishing too. This was a fear of them falling in and never to be found again. Thank God I never had that happen. Thank You for sharing.
