Hmm, the more I read and hear about the war between Ukraine and Russia, the more I come to see, that it is the same thing that has happened between people from around the world. Is it injustice? Is it wrong? Perhaps, but it has always been this way. Human history is filled with it. The only difference is we are witnessing it and chose a side.

Yes you're right human nature is filled with it we are lovely creatures aren't we? It is sad that power and grief around the world love. And hope but that would be a perfect world would it not? Thank you so much for commenting and for reading. I appreciate your time and your insight hope you have a great day!

I'm not sure greed is Putin's problem, I think it's more what Julius Caesar, Napoleon,Hitler, and Ghengis Khan dreamed, I think they were afflicted with that disease, narcissism, this is a beautifully composed nonet poem Lea, good luck, blessings Roy

Hello again, Lea. Another great poem! And nonets are not easy, even for experienced writers. Being European, and having Ukrainian families staying with several of my friends in London, the war seems very close. I am glad that both the UK and USA are training Ukrainian military, in the hope that victory will be sooner rather than later. Someone I know who met Putin long ago said ,"He is a man without a soul" and that is exactly where your poem takes his story - a man without a soul is already in hell. I do have a tentative question about a word you have used, which might (or not) be a typing error: is the word 'cassocks' what you intended - or was it 'cossacks'? Best wishes, Paul

This really works, Lea. Well done. I love the way the viciousness grows as the syllables decrease, and the way it bumps down at the end to 'hell' is just perfect. Tight language as always, and some unusual vocabulary to keep us on our toes: cassocks, grandiose. Love it!

Very powerful poem here. The background color and font add to the atmosphere of the poem. The story within the poem is moving. Your syllable count was accurate as far as I could tell. Congratulations on your milestone post. Thanks, Theresa H.

This is very well done. The greedy need of Putin's to oppress others comes through loud and clear. Sadly, the Ukrainian people are the ones who suffer his vicious madness.

Congratulations on your milestone post (50). You have accurately portrayed Putin. The situation in Ukraine bothers me intensely. I have written a few poems about it.

This is a great entry into the Nonet contest. All syllables are in check to convey a striking and strong message on the power hungry Putin and the dire situation that has devastated many lives. I like how it flows through to the end and makes sense without hiccup. A worthy milestone and write for the competition. Well done and best of luck.
