What an interesting horse. He was so loyal to you because you rescued him and he didn't think any other human could be as kind and caring as you. It's good that you and Joyce were so flexible about his care.
Suggestions:
I thought Willies's (Willie's) the 's ending is if the name ended with an 's' and you added another syllable in pronunciation as in Phyllis's
somewhat unhorse like. (unhorse-like)

Thank you. I have corrected the errors you mention. I think I was probably the first person to ever show Willie kindness and good care. He didn't have feel safe anywhere else.

I truly enjoyed meeting Willie in your very well-written story. You did a wonderful job in introducing Willie. You kept this reader's attention from beginning to end.
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you, and thanks for the six stars. Willie was a unique individual in the world of horse. Horses become attached to a good caregiver, but not the the extent Willie did.

A very nice story indeed and even better knowing that it is actually a true one. I guess the bond that some animals/pets have with us humans does in fact know no bounds sometimes. You a good soul friend, not enough people like you in our world unfortunately : )) Good luck in the contest !

Thank you. I was probably the first human to ever treat Willie well. He felt safe with me and didn't want to leave.

Warm hearted engaging narrative. This reads very much like a television episode or a screenplay adaptation. This would make an excellent episode for the Kevin Costner series "Yellowstone." I'm sure with a few tweaks to fit into the storyline it would do just fine. Well done.

You're very welcome!

I don't think it will be in the contest. The contest committee said I exceeded the word count. I went by where it said if there is no word count stated above then the count doesn't matter. Way down at the bottom, they said 300 words should be suffiecient.I think it was kind of rotten.

I'm a reporter at a small newspaper in Pennsylvania and a couple of years ago I interviewed a lady who had a horse like Willie. It was a funny story like this one with about the same ending. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you. Willie was a character. I had a horse named Pete who was close to Willie personality-wise. Most horses are fond of a kind owner, but prefer the pasture and their buddies if given a choice.

sounds like a smart horse.
Best of both worlds.
Neat story - especially being true.
Glad yall could work it out and that you saved him!
Wish you had a picture of him, but I'll just picture him in my mind.
Nice to read a happy story - and a humorous one!

Thank you. I gave all my pictures of Willie to Joyce. I wish I had kept at least one. I have pictures of most of my other horses, but not Willie.

"Sweet Willie"
(A Rescue Horse)
This was well written rich in Theme and Imagery.
It also, read well and flowed well with No Grammar Issues.
...
My friend Ann rents a small farm where she has thoroughbreds.
Right now there's only two and she recently lost her donkey named, "Dominic"
These are rescued animals also.
Thanks for sharing this and have a Blessed day.

Thank you. Horses are amazing animals. I had quite a few throughout my life. I'm seventy-six now, and while I miss horses, I don't feel up to all the care they require.

i loved your story. I particularly loved the ending where Willie decided to stay with Joyce after all. I guess he finally figured out where his forever home really was. Well told story. Kept me interested to the end.

Thank you. Everyone says I should add the footnotes as the last paragraph. However, I wanted the story to end with Willie's horse laugh. He really did just that.

I like it as it is.

A wonder story about a loving horse. Also, very well written. An easy read that flowed from paragraph to paragraph. Did Willie get along with the other horses on the dairy farm? After Willie excaped seven times what was your husband's reaction? Was it never again?
Enjoyed read this story and needed to know the ending. Well done.
Thank you!

Thank you. Yes, Willie got along with my other horses. My husband just shook his head after Willie's seventh escape, and left us women and Willlie to work things out. I did rescue other horses after Willie.

What a wonderful story! The straightforwardness of your writing style really lends itself well to your theme. Your imagery is concise and consistent. Thank you for sharing! Horses are the absolute best.

Thank you. I think horses are the best, too. I miss having them around now that I'm older. I couldn't afford to care for them properly without the farm and my husband's help.
