There were some echoes of Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men in the relationship between Mason and Paddy. What I appreciated most of this chapter was that you brought out the human side of criminals, that they are not just 100% evil but have love for their own family.

I am glad you mentioned the human side... In this story, I have been practicing or hopefully trying to manage my characters so they aren't seen as just a cop, a criminal, a doctor. I want the reader to see more of the individual.

I agree I didn't like the story except for Mason loving his brother through their last breath. I just thought it might get too confusing if I had three sets of people chasing after Lance and Bennie... the gangsters, the boys, and the cops. Too many strings to tie together for this old lady's mind. LOL

Bruiser is Peter Costello's hit man and they thought Mason and Paddy had the jewels. Now they know it's Lance and Bennie so they are off to get them. Those gangsters have no qualms about shooting people. LOL thanks for the review, Shirley. I appreciate it very much.
