Wow! That kind of made my head spin it went so fast. Arent we all lucky that school is relatively, back to normal? I'm so glad that teachers are back in the groove. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest. :)

Laughing here! My eight year old grandson LIVES for the breaks in the school year...and "majors" in lunch and recess when he has to be present! He's already stressing because his school year starts the last week of August this year!
Great Rictameter...

This is a terrific Rictameter verse and an excellent
contest submission!
Having children myself, we are counting down
the days left of summer, it goes by way too fast !!!
The tempo you created felt like a bouncing ball.
The lines read quickly with a peppering of whimsy.
Thanks for sharing.

Hello Author, good Rictameter format. Your poem is a carousel of the school holidays which everyone looks forward to--more family time and a time to just exhale. I especially liked:
Then our four day Thanksgiving Holiday
December's Christmas Vacation
(The two-best times of the year. What a joy!)
Well done. As this is a contest entry, I wish you good luck. LateBloomer

Your rictameter is excellent in every respect--skillfully composed and delightfully expressive of the days during the school year viewed most important by a child.

Thank you Janice for such a kind review and comments. As my grandson told me the only things he looked forward to school starting, it seemed to fit perfect for the prompt. Thanks again my dear friend!

Anxious for the future, but we must live for today. Well thought out. Clearly written. Good set of plans you have made... I suppose you're a teacher or professor. Nice work.
Enjoy the summer. Good luck to you :)

Thank you, for such a kind review and comments. As my grandson told me the only things he looked forward to school starting, it seemed to fit perfect for the prompt. Actually I am a retired teacher but these were strictly the feelings of a 12 year old boy. Thanks again my dear friend!

The beautiful and wonderous progression of the school year as seen via school holidays. As a worker, I viewed holidays as a great break away from the job. As a parent I viewed Holidays as a challenge of what do i do with the kids? My kids do not welcome back to school days, I very much appreciate the return to school.

Thank you Nomi for such a kind review and comments. As my grandson told me the only things he looked forward to school starting, it seemed to fit perfect for the prompt. Sounds like your kids felt much the same way!
Thanks again my dear friend!

Oh, how I remember too marking off the days between holidays when I was a teacher. This is a relatable poem for all teachers or retired teachers on this site. The poem for me is almost a list. It needs descriptive language other than the list to read more like a poem. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks Susan, I appreciate your kind review and wished for descriptive words too but not enough syllables to use as they were all needed to tell of how one young boy was dreading going back to school. As a teacher myself, I felt that with many kids always couldn't wait for the next vacation.

I am not Susan. I am Sandra. You are welcome.
-
Oh my goodness I knew that. Sorry Sandra. Not sure how that happened.

It's okay.

That's funny! Seems like all those school holidays are well noted and make it more tolerable for your grandson to map out the coming school year. Best wishes in the contest!!

This is an excellent, humorous Rictameter for the contest
telling time by the frequency and length of vacations and days off of school,
something both students and teacher often do.
Enjoy the time off along with your grandson.
Good luck in the contest.

Thanks Robert, and as you are always so precise with your review, and your lovely comments, I am always so appreciative as so many have been generic lately. So you are truly appreciated my friend. Yes this seemed to be the perfect place to put my grandson's views about going back to school, even if I am a retired school teacher. Lol! Thanks again my friend!
