Yeah, it can be quite a choice, military or college. Military will definitely give a person a more varied experience, but college could be a bit safer. Sounds like you have been around with the military.
Nice chronology. Good job.

A well written life story with rhyme, describing all the places you have been. I felt it was well written although the metre was a bit different and irregular. Good wishes for the contest.

There is a nice rhythm to your poem, and it carries one through effortlessly. Your military career certainly seemed to help you see the world, and connected you with a lot of wonderful people! I enjoyed your poem!

That picture from Full Metal Jacket brings back memories from the movie. It was a very sad scene when the one guy shot himself to death. My husband was in Bremerhaven, Germany by the North Sea. He was a military police officer. Thankfully, you came back home to tell about your time.
My husband went to college when he was honourably discharged.

Firstly, Earl. thanks for your service. Sounds like you did some traveling in the service for the years you were in. Did you ever go to college. It is still possible. This is a good salute to the military.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Good luck in the contest.

Earl Corp your military rhyming poem I see has great couplets with humor was fun to read. I'm wondering if you write about how you disliked been in the military. The best to you in the contest
Gert.

BRAVO! Your contest entry is well thought out, Earl. The rhymes
are super, but more than those, the message is loud and clear. The
story flows well with great imagery. I love the title and the description
box. Your attention to detail is excellent. The image is perfect to
accompany your poem. Your dedication to service and to your buddies
is awesome.
Best wishes, Jan

My husband is retired military, after twenty-three years in. He did basic and AIT in Alabama, then to Germany, then Maryland, then Germany, then Fort Campbell, off to South Carolina, then Georgia, then Maryland, then Texas. Oh my. Yes, he did go to Desert Shield and Desert Storm, with a few follow ups in Afghanistan. Thank you for sharing this writing prompt with us.
