This just goes to show you, there doesn't have to be death, murder or suicide in a good piece of flash fiction. It might be an old man just trying to finish his plot by sundown. The last line came as a surprise. I thought he was going to politely listen, then tell his horse to "Sikkim, Bessie!"

You introduced James, the main character, set up the context with its problem, then solved it all in 100 words most skilfully.
