A powerful chapter grounded in your own experiences. You really get the emotions across on the page, and there is a chilling reality in the way you describe the treatment. Very well written.

Since I have cancer (basal cell carcinoma, to be exact), the chemo reference caught my attention. That last paragraph sure hits the nail spot on about family members worried reactions to those undergoing chemo. Have not done so closely, but this is one to follow.

I am glad you stopped by. This is my experience, but everybody has their own, depending on the type of Chemo that was used.

We never know what we might have to go through in this life. And with cancer it's most times going against the odds. I'm glad you made it! Thanks for sharing

Superb chapter, Barbara. You are doing a service to anyone who may be facing the same challenges you faced (and Katherine is facing). The process is a lot different from when I had chemo. Mine was always in the arm, lasted several hours, as I recall, during which time I struggled to stay awake. Afterward, I went straight to work at my insurance office until 5 PM when I went home and crashed ... literally crashed. As I told you before, I never lost my head hair, though my underarms and legs lost theirs.
I hope this gets a lot of exposure, Barbara!

I continued to teach every day, then crashed when I got home until the next morning. I had a port. The scar remains. No low cut blouses, although probably to old to rock that style anymore. LOL

I knew when I read this, that it was partially your story Barbara, I agree with your son, he must love you with all his, my wife is deeply loved by all who know her, but especially her daughters and grandchildren, I know they would be absolutely devastated, as would yours, beautifully written Barbara, blessings Roy

Well, this is another well written story of poor Katherine and all her problems (just kidding). You do write her well and do a good job of showing the good support system a nice family and people have, and how it can help when times are bad. I think that will appeal to many readers who have undergone thing like this.
"Is there any way I can make this easier?"
- Lol, nice change from him saying, 'Is there anything I can help with?"

This makes it very real with the detail and information you have provided. A young girl (twenty years old) in my church (pastor's daughter) has a rare cancer, had chemo for many months last year and now radiation as the chemo wasn't fully effective. Your story is helping me understand what they are all going through. Everyone is affected. Thank you. It's very well written!

Nicely written. I think you portrayed Katherine's anxiety about chemo verry well. You moved the story along nicely. I can't believe there are only two chapters left.

You've handled this chapter amazingly well, Barbara. You certainly did convey the emotions of everyone involved. Your note about your own experience brought a tear to my eyes.
